It felt like a tough loss, but not really a screw job. MSU is the #5 team in the country, and UM just lost to them by a single point because of some poor play down the stretch. If anything, it just felt like a kick in the balls, but not some epic conspiracy or bad call.

Now that sounds more like it. OSU this year was depressing because the chance for the upset was there. My soul has been sufficiently punched the past few years, but I also know that UM is an elite school and will return to glory on both the hardwood and the football field soon.

That loss was gut-wrenching. I still feel sick. My heart ripped through my throat.

But people, let's not make it seem like we got screwed. Here's what happened:

- We got away with some calls.
- They got away with some calls.
- We shot poorly.
- They turned it over too much.
- Our last ditch effort in a game that was going to come down to the last possession didn't fall.

That. Is. Basketball. We need to build from this and go on a tear on another favorable stretch of schedule. Simple as that.

the former.

HOWEVA, up 3 with 2 mins. to go and up 1 with 1 min. to go, with the ball, and we draw no iron until 0.2 secs on the clock? Hard to complain about the call...

After drinking several high-powered beers, followed by watching some highlights of the UM/ND football game (Stonum, Forcier TDs), I have finally managed to talk myself off the ledge. This loss was the most heartbreaking since 2006 UM/OSU football, IMO.

A couple comments:

1. There were many empty seats. That should not be.
2. There were too many goddamn Spartans in our house.

All of this leads me to one conclusion:

FUCK YOU, STATE.

for like the last 5 minutes of the game. It seemed for most of the game the team wasn't intense, but maybe that's just my perspective. Also, late in the second half the stat went up that we were only shooting 27% to the Spartans 45%; I know we shoot a lot of three's but that seems too low. Whether it was Spartan D or not, we need to improve on that number.
Oh well...who's next...?
