I believe he got the skill players but I don't believe he was as strong everywhere else.

Should be similar to Harbaugh. Harbaugh did great but was still getting 3* guys in a lot of key positions. Chip Kelly at Texas or USC could be brutal if he's filling up the trenches with 4* guys instead of 3* guys.

UT has like no great players from TX this year. And UM has Elliott (who is all kinds of wobbly), really wants Delance and Jackson, and also has that Levi O guy on their board. Chip Kelly goes to UT? Guess which guys start taking another hard look at UT...with UM starting from behind with guys in the mid west and still filling out a potentially great recruiting class with out of region kids, this is not the year for a big time HC to step into UT.

Four guys that would not make or break this class. You also assume that Kelly could win over four guys in such a short time span or that he could outrecruit Harbaugh.

Oh and we musn't forget mind the negativity UT would draw for firing a well-respected black coach after only two years to hire a recently-fired white coach who was accused of racism with the Eagles.

Texas will probably give Strong one more year to prove his system and his new coaching hires out while Kelly spends a year in the booth (or on a boat/island) and if Strong does not compete for the Big 12 title, then he is probably gone and Kelly comes in.

Also, Kevin Sumlin can't be on firm ground with his 2 top qbs bolting all of a sudden, so A&M would be a possibility and just imagine Kelly going against Saban, Miles, and Bert.

They just had their president on the road helping recruit assistant coaches, promising Strong would stay. I don't know too much about their president, but UT is a serious academic institution. It's hard to imagine our president going back on his word like that. It's not like Chip Kelly would be their Harbaugh either. He's just a big name coach who's had success at one place. Not a sure fire fit at Texas. I'm sure they think they can get someone like that whenever they want.

Pat Haden looks pretty stupid right now. The five year deal with Helton looked bad enough when it was offered.

If Kelly sits out a year, he'll have plenty of options. His availability will be making some seats hotter. That's a nice situation to be in, probably a lot better than the potential messiness at Texas.
