If they haven't messed up enough to take themselves out by now, I expect Mr. Nauta is just yanking everyone else's chain.
December 21st, 2015 at 8:16 AM ^
...Nauta is likely to land with Georgia based on composite comments/crystal balls and the like. I wouldn't count Harbs out of the running for the kid but with recent TE pickups, maybe the ship has sailed.
December 20th, 2015 at 9:10 PM ^
Have you seen this dude's tattoos? Looks like an NFL guy already. And IMG Academy is like $75k per year to attend. You have to wonder how much of this guy is just manufactured hype by daddy.
December 21st, 2015 at 9:48 AM ^
He's as much of a sure things as exists in recruiting. Your comment is bad, and reeks of sour grapes.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:08 PM ^
Is he an EE guy?
December 20th, 2015 at 7:26 PM ^
I thought I read that he's annoucing in January so that would be too late, no?
December 20th, 2015 at 2:08 PM ^
i am thinking the writing is on the wall since we offered the other 2016 tight end --hope i am wrong....
December 20th, 2015 at 2:15 PM ^
sincerely 50-50 it still makes sense to have a backup plan.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:08 PM ^
Good chance we would end with a consensus #1 class. If not, we'll probably finish with a consensus top 5 class

It makes me cringe seeing how many Mich fans tweet at him.

It makes me cringe the number of fans that tweet at high school kids in general. The retweeting and favoriting is fine, but to actually tweet directly back to them is just fucking weird.

Samsies. I'm moving to a cabin in northern Montana after retiring. Who should I mail my mgoblog posts to?
December 20th, 2015 at 3:52 PM ^
them to the Mad Hatter. He will figure something out.
December 20th, 2015 at 6:01 PM ^
There is another Michigan grad who lived in a remote cabin and mailed things to people...you arent Ted Kazinski's son are you?

BWAAAHAHHAHAHAHHA! +1 for being hilariously politically incorrect and factually correct all at once.
December 21st, 2015 at 12:09 AM ^
I'm not sure you understand the concept of political incorrectness, but you keep doing you.
December 21st, 2015 at 7:37 AM ^
Making jokes about the Unibomber? If that isn't PI in today's society, I don't know what is. Especially with "safe zones" for "feelings" popping up all over campuses.
December 21st, 2015 at 9:51 AM ^
Now I'm certain that you don't...

This joke totuni bombered.
December 21st, 2015 at 9:23 AM ^
for me. I'll write my manifesto there and ask my kids to check in on me 2x per year. If I'm not bones the last time they show up I want to be put in a burial stand and picked clean by the critters in the area prior to burial.
I am so terrified at waking up in a coffin.

what is the difference in creepiness between people who tweet at recruits they don't know and people who scan the recruits twitter....kinda like secretely watching someone through a window and doing the same but randomly talking/yelling at them
December 20th, 2015 at 6:07 PM ^
I'm not on Twitter, but it isn't like that at all. People put stuff out on Twitter to be viewed, fully knowing strangers may see it. No one walks around their house thinking it is ok for people to be looking in through their window. Get off your high horse.
That said, I'm totally for not tweeting at strangers. That IS creepy.
December 20th, 2015 at 6:30 PM ^
you definitely poke a hole in my analogy, but how can viewing a profile and tweeting an unknown kid be that drastically different where one is creepy while the other acceptable?
December 20th, 2015 at 6:43 PM ^
the recruit has control over what they put on their Twitter page/timeline/bio.
On the other hand tweets from adults to recruits are generally unsolicited, but come with the implication that the person tweeting the recruit feels that their opinion should somehow impact what a minor is thinking.
Now if the recruit posts a question and/or asks for feedback? Fair game. Re-tweets/likes? Again, this is information the recruit put out for public consumption (they may even want the attention). But the moment a stranger is offering unsolicited advice/commentary, that's creepy.

So looking at a teens facebook that you don't know is cool as long as it is freely available?
December 21st, 2015 at 11:22 AM ^
I don't think teens use facebook anymore. Maybe to update pics for their grandparents..
December 20th, 2015 at 11:05 PM ^
"No one walks around their house thinking it is ok for people to be looking in through their window."
Hey, speak for yourself, pal. Some of us are exhibitionists.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:29 PM ^
Any adult tweeting at a high school kid with which they are otherwise unfamiliar creeps me out.
It makes me wonder. Do they think the kid will read his/her tweet and go - "that's a great point. I'm going to Michigan."?
WTF.
December 21st, 2015 at 9:52 AM ^
This guy really understands me... /tear. I'm going to Michigan!
December 20th, 2015 at 9:17 PM ^
It amazes me that people can't figure out how inappropriate it is.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:10 PM ^
some of these guys anyway. The Harbaugh/UM buzz makes it a popular thing to do. I just don't get the feeling Nauta is coming to UM.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:56 PM ^
Still, the fact that it's cool to put Michigan in your top 3 underscores the general coolness of this program.
December 20th, 2015 at 3:07 PM ^
Michigan was not even in top 3's. I like being in the mix, even if he picks someone else. At the risk of seeing the dumb and dumber GIF again, being in his top 3 says to me there is a chance. At least we aren't on the outside (Notre Dame for example) looking in and have a 33.3% chance of landing him. Now if we would have watched the last two commits go to the Noles instead of UM then I might be a little more cynical to pay any attention to the old "well we are in the top 3 BS". Like a couple years ago when the only mention UM got was they are in my top 3. I believe it was a LB to the Noles and a OL to Stanford were two i can remember. That got old quick.
December 20th, 2015 at 3:55 PM ^
I'm kinda with you on this.
When Hoke was surging in recruiting, Michigan was in on some nationally-known guys. And it was nice to see Michigan on these lists. The problem was that Michigan couldn't close the deal, missed out on a bunch of guys, and started losing early commits and battles we thought we led for. So "Top 3 Woohoo" lost all of its luster.
And maybe we get back there. But right now Michigan is winning a few of these battles--Walker being the most prominent. If Michigan can close the deal on Gary, it will validate Harbaugh's recruiting this year and going forward and the fact that they're in on a bunch of guys in the South (and CA, TX, etc) becomes exciting even if Michigan doesn't win every battle.
December 20th, 2015 at 2:12 PM ^
he goin to georgia
hope we can close on chase allen
December 20th, 2015 at 5:05 PM ^
I think we have more than enough depth at TE, if we don't get Nauta (who seems like a once in a 4 year prospect) I would rather we used what few schollies we have left on LBs, DBs or Offensive linemen.
December 20th, 2015 at 9:28 PM ^
+1 insightful
December 20th, 2015 at 2:14 PM ^
I'm surprised that he did not just list "Georgia" three times.
December 20th, 2015 at 3:22 PM ^
So there's Nauta chance that he comes to UM?
December 20th, 2015 at 2:13 PM ^
If he comes it could be one of the greatest tight end duos of all time. Seems like he's set on Georgia though. I can't blame him I'd go nowhere but Michigan if I was a recruit and I had all those offers.
