Man..the way those reporters were questioning him was very Sparty like...its as if there was no way he could take his education THAT serious..I mean not without someone telling him to stay. No way he could come to that conclusion on his own. Pathetic.

Love this quote.  Runs counter to the argument that "you can always go back to school" that we see thrown around as justification when our players leave early, but even if you go back after your pro career, you'll forever have lost out on a year of the true true on-campus college experience.

It seems like Michigan has typically attracted slightly more scholarly individuals to the program, in comparision to some other members of the conference, cough, cough, Ohio, cough... We do have players that leave early. And we do have players that don't take their studies seriously. But Harbough's criticisim of several years ago aside, Michigan athletes just tend to be better students.

simple. they dont want to believe a kid would really want to finish school.every time a player does good in college the "experts" say the same thing..he has nothing left to prove he should go pro. that was so stupid how the reporters couldnt let it go with just one answer.

I am thoroughly convinced that our constant messages to NFL scouts about the potential growth spurts of 22 year old men helped this decision.

His draft stock really isn't affected...he's short and is always going to be short in the eyes of the NFL.

He may think he'll be a first round pick if he comes back, but that's not really a guarantee. He'll probably still be in that second round range. He'll be a steal, but some 6'2 junior CB will slide into the first round just because he runs a 4.3...it's just how it goes in the NFL Draft.

IMO, he's Leon Hall in the NFL...not a superstar, but some very solid years, maybe a pro bowl year, and a guy who stays in the league for a looooooong time.

spot on.  theres almost always an underclassmen or 3 that jump into the equation or some smaller program player who shoots up boards after working out in shorts at the combine.

lewis doesnt have the total package including ideal physical metrics that scouts drool over like woodson or patrick peterson but the kid can ball.

and ballers who consistently produce in the nfl obviously overcome size or strength issues or whatever and lewis will too.  guys like tyran mathieu, earl thomas, etc manage just fine as undersized pro bowlers bc theyre sick athletes with incredible instincts, work ethic, football IQ, etc.

if he could follow leon halls career arc, thatd be outstanding.  that cats consistently been an impact player on solid Ds and hes still playing at a high level at 30 yrs old or whatever (and that longevity and production at CB isnt easy - its the exception not the rule which makes woodsons run that much more impressive)

Lewis: I'm coming back

Reporter: Why?

I realize the guy has a job to do, and a majority of that job is asking questions like "why?". But am I the only person who had an overwhelming feeling of wanting to punch that dumbass in the teeth?
