It's a very good defense, but it's trending downward a bit recently and hasn't played a murderer's row of offenses either (by FEI)

  1. UT - 22
  2. Ole Miss - 10
  3. LSU - 17
  4. FSU - 27
  5. Alabama - 29

By comparison, UM played 4 top 50 offenses:

  1. BYU - 35
  2. Indiana - 25
  3. MSU - 23
  4. OSU - 26

And the OSU team UM saw was a tad bit better on offense than LSU is right now.

I think it'll be a slog, but this is still a team that can be gameplanned around well enough; it isn't one of those dominating defenses that just shuts down a part of your team.

Is the best in the country, but they have nothing on Offense. If UM just stops the run this game is in the bag for UM. One thing to worry about tho is that this game won't have Big10 Refs, so Lewis will most likely get called for pass interference 3-4 times since that is what he does,on every play. I'm not joking.

I was very impressed with Florida's defense against Alabama. Their offense is pathetic, though. They're one of the worst running teams in the nation, so this is probably the best possible matchup for our weak run defense.

I dont get the notion our run defense is weak. Two read option teams killed us. Nobody else did. We stopped some good backs this year until we faced teams that ran zone read with a mobile QB that could run and throw.

Florida offense the last 5 games-

  • 9 points vs Vanderbilt
  • 24 vs 3-9 South Carolina
  • 14 in regulation and 20 including OT against 3-9 FAU from C-USA
  • 0 vs FSU at home
  • 7 vs Alabama on desperation heave

No matter what they say, I think the Committee swapped Oklahoma and Michigan State between #3 and #4 to avoid a semi-final matchup between what they think are the two best teams in Alabama and Oklahoma.  The betting community thinks Alabama and Oklahoma are the two top teams.
