That's what we've been saying every year for the last 5 years. Everyone thinks that next year is the year MSU finally takes the step back to irrelevance. And it never happens. They just get stronger every year and continue to take that next step while Michigan sits around with its dick in its hand.

Look I hate to admit it too, but is it possible that MSU is just that good of a program where they're just going to reload at this point?

That year they went 7-6.  MSU does not have the talent like Bama or OSU where they can mitigate such a loss easily. They'll take a hit next year, but probably bounce back in 16'. MSU isn't going anywhere, but UM is  only going to get better and better.  MSU's road has gotten significantly more difficult as this proves. UM with a grad transfer QB and nondescript running game should have defeated a top 5 MSU team.

Did O'Connor/Terry really impress you in that OSU game? I watched the whole thing and it really didn't feel like those were quarterbacks that will hurt us next year. Not to mention they lose Burbridge, Kings, Pendleton, and 3 starting offensive lineman. Remember how their o-line looked without those starters?

This has been the worst 9 win season ever. Lose to both rivals and watch one of them go to the playoffs. What a load of shit. We get our one lucky break of the whole fucking season to beat Minnesota in a meaningless game, while Sparty beats us and osu on total horseshit.

That punt play was pure luck.

They shouldn't be compared.

Our Minnesota win was like this win they just had. It wasn't pretty, but we made plays when they mattered.

The punt was bullshit and always will be.

We should be 10-2, MSU should've been 11-1/10-2 depending on how you view the Nebraska game, OSU should've been 11-1.

3 way tie to the B1G Championship game...we beat MSU, MSU beat OSU, OSU beat us.

OSU likely would've gone on to play Iowa and we would be headed to the Rose Bowl to play Stanford.

Minn running a 20 seconds off the clock to bring the game down to one play was lucky for us.  Maybe you want to distinguish between bad coaching, which was, and fluke events likes the botched Oneil punt.  Still, MSU's win over OSU was bad coaching, just like our win in Minnesota was.  Every team has some breaks go their way during a season, but ours seem to come in unimportant games-- Minnesota this year, NW in Hoke seasons, and so on.  The only important rivarly series in which we have been lucky recently is against ND.  MSU gets the bullshit punt, OSU gets our RB blowing his ACL mid-game last year, our QB too hurt to run on the two-point conversion two years ago, etc.  Sometimes you just get beat, like OSU did to us this year and MSU did last year.  Those weren't lucky wins, but when things are close enough for chance to play a role, Michigan's gotten boned for the last decade plus.

They might have been robbed...but...why are people so upset? Did you guys actually want to see MSU AND OSU in the playoffs? I sure as shit didn't.

Damn. We were so close to having NEITHER of them in, too.

That's the thing. It's very uncertain. The Committee might very well have jumped on the chance to put the defending national champs back in the playoffs -- a 1 loss team, too, compared to Stanford's 2 losses. You can argue that all you want, but it really could have gone either way. Now, it can't.

This is kinda reminding me of last year, anyway, though. I was confident OSU would get trucked in the playoffs. Now I'm feeling the same way about MSU.

There's this guy my wife works with, total douche. Makes 6 figures even though he comes in late, leaves early, does jack shit and has no idea what he's doing while he's doing it. He got caught up in a check cashing scheme and got away with it somehow, claimed he referred a new hire and took the $500 reward for it, even though the new hire would tell HR that it was my wife who referred him. That got him put into a pool where his name was drawn and he won an additional $1k. He regularly gets his name called in meetings and gets caught not paying attention. Now he applied for a higher position in another department with a pay raise and is one of the final candidates and will probably get it. This guy is an asshole who deserves nothing, and he is the individual embodiment of Sparty this season.

Scott is a beast - as a fucking freshman.

Anybody who thinks that MSU will be "down" next year and that things will revert to "normal" and we will beat them just by showing up . . . is kidding themselves.  This is a dogfight.

Fuck that team!!!! And their jackass cocky insufferable fans!!!! Why do good things keep happening to such an unrelenting asshole like Groucho Mark. I cannot wait until Bama gives them the hands on shoulders proctological exam treatment.

Worse is this would not even be happening if OSU had just done their goddamn job.

At least it's a team that is supposed to be there and isn't the in state rival. It's like being a Tennessee fan, you know Bama is going to be there so you can live with it, but Kentucky making a run like this is unexpected and would not happen in a just universe.

how will those top four look tomorrow? Does Clemson stay #1? Does the committee arrange a MSU-Alabama semifinal, or do they want that possibility for the championship game? Decisions, decisions. My gut tells me Alabama has the best defense left, Oklahoma has the best offense left, Clemson has the best individual player left, and Sparty has the best coach left. There will be much to break down the next four weeks.
