OT: Ruffin McNeill fired by East Carolina

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Why is this relevant? Because this is a terrible decision and a case of a school not knowing who they are.

Ruffin McNeil had a 10-3 team just two years ago. One rebuilding 5-7 year at a school that doesn't exactly reload and he's fired.

He went 8-5 last year and beat North Carolina 70-41!!

Idiots. Complete idiots. Would be a great hire if Rutgers got him and could take them from horrific to mediocre.

Ill bet they hire their old OC that's at Oklahoma. Maybe they figured he was the best part of the staff.

He's only 32 but generating some HC buzz

Looks like he'll get the S. Carolina HC gig or he'll "settle" as DC with his friend Kirby Smart at UGA.

REPORT: MUSCHAMP EXPECTED TO LEAVE AUBURN

The Tigers don't expect defensive coordinator Will Muschamp to return next season, according to a report by Alabama Live's website. Muschamp's next destination is unclear, but he's scheduled to interview for South Carolina's head coach position, sources told ESPN.

Kiffin and Smart are BFFs...haven't you ever seen them on the sidelines?

They're hilarious because Saban is like the old dad who can't STAND IT. Meanwhile they're fist pumping and chest bumping like they're players.

It's rumored that Kiffin could leave...and that it may be Saban's doing anyway.

this guy was Dino Babers a few yrs ago - he was a hot candidate with an awesome spread offense that teams were interested in... but he stayed at ECU since he was an alum.

What in the fucking fuck are some ADs thinking.

No they had a prolific offense as he brought Texas Tech coaches with him to ECU as OCs.  I dont mean Dino Babers in terms of being a previous OC, I mean that team scored boatloads of points and was a dangerous team to play in any week and he got some attention from P5s.  They were 10-3 in 2013 (beat 2 P5s) and his name was in a lot of coaching searches.  Just funny how quickly people's fortunes change now.

Ahhhh I see what you mean. You meant Ruffin & Co., not specifically Ruffin himself. I just can't fathom how you fire THAT guy. Has been successful in every season that didn't involve the OC, QB, and top WR being absent, is a proud alum, has signature wins over P5 teams at home and on the road. Why would you want that job if even that guy can't keep it?
