Stuff not worthy of its own thread
I've suggested this a few times and haven't got much response, so - I guess I'll try it. The neg-bangs or pos-bangs will tell me if it was a good idea or not. Some of the other forums I visit on a daily basis have a thread like this, it helps get rid of the 'my dog has a leaky ass' threads.
Whenever someone post something that gets discussion and/or debate going, the mods can start a new thread so we can talk about it there. But typically, these threads are just a bunch of rambling (which most of the OT threads here are) that get a few responses before the subject dies.
I’m not suggesting that we use this thread for good OT threads that get very interesting and get lots of replies, like the ‘movie line’ threads etc. Just for basic, off the wall random observations, bitching, non-bitching, or for thoughts that, well, aren’t worthy of their own thread.
I’ll start

This bugs the hell out of me. There is this little tab on the side that says 'TO OPEN PUSH HERE'. I have yet to meet anyone in my life who has successfully pushed that tab and opened up the box. No, instead, when you push the tab, the box just pushes in.
But there is another issues, even IF you were able to push the tab and pour out the noodles into your boiling pot of water, what about the packet of cheese that’s still inside of the box? It won’t come out the ‘push’ tab. NO, you will have to open up the top of the box to get it out, so why not save the 2 cents on printing the ‘push here’ tab and pass it on to me, the consumer.
Based on how much Mac & Cheese my kids eat, that 2 cents could save me like $26 a year!!!!!!!

Drives me up the wall! They have a similar tab on some boxes of waffle mix too, IT WILL NOT OPEN, THEY ARE FULL OF LIES!
January 22nd, 2010 at 3:11 PM ^
Make me feel like Larry David trying to open a hard plastic encased object. I start screaming, grunting, and jumping up and down like a monkey.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:17 PM ^
boxes as intructed for a while now. Good to know there's at least 6 others.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
Ha, that made me laugh. It's okay, you're in good company.
January 21st, 2010 at 7:22 PM ^
the interwebs...just 'Google' it and I'll bet you'll find all the E-blog help you need to get you through.
Remember, the first step is admitting that you have a problem.

Ahh the good ol days. I went from Raman to Kraft Mac and now it's whole wheat pasta but I would never suggest that one is better than another.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:22 PM ^
I deliver a Bruce Lee style one inch index finger punch into the push tab, then fish-hook the top and peel it open. I've found that to be the best method.
January 21st, 2010 at 7:14 PM ^
Myself I use the back end of the utensil that I will eventually use to eat the mac and cheese. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds the push tab insanely frustrating and worthless.
January 21st, 2010 at 8:08 PM ^
That is all.
January 22nd, 2010 at 9:01 AM ^
Don't even get me started on freakin' powdered pancake mix....
January 21st, 2010 at 5:58 PM ^
of a random post thread, which would be labeled "OT" of course....but that goes without saying.
January 21st, 2010 at 5:58 PM ^
Once upon a time, there were "[DATE HERE] Bored @ Work Thread".
They didn't last either.
January 21st, 2010 at 7:51 PM ^
nor am I bored - just figured there were things out there people might want to say but not start a thread over. Hopefully this one will last. One of the sites I get on daily that has about 2000 less users than this, is already up to about 800 pages.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
Did you just suggest bringing back haloscan? If yes, sign me up!
January 21st, 2010 at 6:03 PM ^
that obvious OFF TOPIC post need have an OT in front of the title as not to confuse anyone
January 21st, 2010 at 6:05 PM ^
just easier to weed out from the football related topics.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:09 PM ^
but as far as I can tell, this blog talks about every sport Michigan - which is cool, so, maybe instead of Off Topic we could swicth to NMS.
January 21st, 2010 at 9:06 PM ^
for the kittens. I just put up with all the sports talk.

The chip makers of America haven't figured out that a zip-lock top is the way to go? No one likes searching the house for a damn chip clip, and a rubber band smashes your chips. And crumpling the bag shut, well, I won't even comment on that.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:05 PM ^
but I have a 'bitch' about some of those. It seems to never fail with the shredded cheese bags I buy from Miejer with the zip-lock tops - I'll go to pull the zip, and instead, rip the damn bag, and the zip-lock is no longer effective.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:08 PM ^
Cheese is notorious for not opening right.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:16 PM ^
It does cut quite well though....
January 21st, 2010 at 6:07 PM ^
Have chip makers outside of America figured this out?
January 21st, 2010 at 6:10 PM ^
burlap sack and twine.

But, over there we have Cheese and Onion. Mmm...
January 21st, 2010 at 7:43 PM ^
In England and Canada they have waaay better flavors and more of them. Keep the prescription drugs, give me 25 flavors of chips. I will not, however, call them crisps!
January 21st, 2010 at 8:45 PM ^
anyone else like ketchup flavored chips? you can get them in canada. whenever my buddy comes down from toronto, i ask him to bring me some.
January 27th, 2010 at 8:42 PM ^
ketchup chips are gooooood, you can get 'em in virginia too
January 21st, 2010 at 6:15 PM ^
They were really good. Thought you all should know.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:22 PM ^
I like to switch freely between them. Love fried mozzarella, what local restaurants serve the best? I happily eat them from the freezer or pizza joint.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:26 PM ^
I had mozzarella sticks last night. I think they were from 2 different bags because half were really good and the other half looked greenish.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:28 PM ^
last night from Arby's - good stuff!
January 21st, 2010 at 6:23 PM ^
Kids with their pants on the ground. I mean come they lookin like a fool!
January 21st, 2010 at 6:25 PM ^
Seems this thread has devolved into a very narrow scope...I would suggest renaming the thread "OT - Packaging of cheese and pseudo-cheese-related products".
BTW...I bet Lane Kiffin hates Mac n Cheese. Pure evil I tell you.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:38 PM ^
For my entire growing up life, my mother made Kraft mac n cheese by adding the cheese powder to the drained, cooked macaroni and then adding the milk and butter. Inevitably, you got powdered cheese lumps hiding in the holes of the macaroni.
Here's a better way to make it: drain the macaroni and leave it in the colander. Put the milk, butter and cheese mix in a saucepan and cook it over low heat while mixing it with a whisk. Then add the macaroni into the finished sauce. No lumps.
It probably says this on the side of the box. I've actually never read it.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:44 PM ^
Along the same lines: When making mashed potatoes from scratch, warm the milk before you add it for a better consistency.

Serena Williams . . . mannish.
I know she's an incredible talent, absolutely at the top of her game but . . .
she's just so damn MUSCULAR!
She's wearing a gold tennis dress at the Australian Open and I swear from a distance she almost looks like Jerome Bettis out there.
It's certainly not her skin color, and she definitely has curves;
I guess I'm just attracted to smaller framed women.
Any chance she knows how to play linebacker?
January 21st, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
but would you 'do her'?
January 21st, 2010 at 8:12 PM ^
I'd fuck just about anything with a pair of X chromosomes.
The problem is that I'm old and fat . . . she'd kill me.
January 21st, 2010 at 6:58 PM ^
No qualms here, I find muscular sexy on men and women!
But I agree on the linebacker part... DAMN Serena is ripped!
January 21st, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
but I know i'd like a piece of that. (If I was single)
January 21st, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
I've always thought Amelie Mauresmo is pretty dang muscular...must be something about tennis players.
January 21st, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
But she has a certain sleek Jennifer Garner-esque look to her.
Serena's freakishly muscled thighs are the size of tree trunks, and she could probably out bench Brandon Graham.
She's like a Tennis T1000.
January 21st, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
Doesn't compare to Safina. I took this picture a couple of years ago at the US Open. *shudder*
January 21st, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
who lived in my neighborhood. I was behind them both in the store one day. She is huge, as in jacked! Maybe not a true LB, but bigger shoulders than many/most DBs
