Too much red
I've seen so much bitching on this blog about students showing up late. Well guess what was the only part of the stadium that didn't sell off their tickets en masse to the enemy. So my proposals:
Non students have to show ID to get in
Seating is based on attendance, including other sports, and showing up on time, but no matter what, it will be corner endzone
"Validation stickers" can be bought in person at select times/locations for double the price
Sound familiar?

And red stands out in a mostly blue-attired crowd.
Something was not "right" from the get-go yesterday. I just had a bad feeling. Maybe it would have been different if the game was for the East title like we thought it would. There just wasn't any electricity, really. If I didn't know any better I wouldn't have guess that this was an intense rivalry and a historic first meeting of two highly-regarded coaches.
btw, did the drum major do the lean-back-touch-head thing yesterday? I swear I didn't see it. Or did they have to cut it out because Ohio State's band took too much time dotting their 'i'?
Feeling cynical today, of course.

I thought the crowd was into it at the outset. I remember it being extremely loud when OSU took over deep in their own territory, prior to the infamous roughing-the-punter call. But the crowd was gradually worn down by the long, agonizing OSU drives.

I also agree on this. I know we have the biggest stadium, but I'm pretty sure Michigan gives more tickets to other Universities than they do to us.

Indeed, and I am sure no one complains on this blog when we go to an away game and show up in Maize & Blue. In Harbaugh's America, you are not only allowed to cross state lines but also by tickets to away games.

The OSU fanbase is more rabid. The Game is life and death to them. It's obviously the most important game for Michigan but I don't think the same intensity level exists for Michigan fans. I'm guessing very few OSU fans sell their tickets. Michigan fans on the other hand...well we all saw the stadium shots.

Not to mention the student section. Thanksgiving weekend screwed the student section because a much larger group of students than normal either didn't show up or sold their ticket. I had never seen so many visiting fans in the student section.

I agree with your assessment of the OSU fan base. I recall several years ago after our last victory against them, when Fickell was coach, some OSU fans walking on campus remarked how surprised they were at how quiet it was after our victory. They had said that the OSU campus would be wild.
I really lose patience with those idiots who want to impose restrictions on Michigan fans selling tickets. It's still somewhat of a free country with somewhat of a free market economy. If people want to sell their tickets and visitors want to pay for them ...
Those who don't like it should pony up and pay for them!
Instead, we see occasional front page posts on THIS blog talking about price movement of tickets and whether or not it might be a good time to buy or better to wait. Yes, that might be a rational approach, but...
Furthermore, how many threads over the last decade of down years talked about buying tickets for Michigan home games at the last minute at bargain prices from season ticket holders? That's OK but not selling a ticket to a big game at more than face value to a willing buyer?
I saw all the red yesterday, as I have at previous games. How many of those people do you think were concerned with price movements? How many of them thought it might be too cold to attend the game and preferred to watch it in the comfort of their home or a bar?
They put their money where their fan mouths are ... and kudos to them. They paid up and, unfortunately, enjoyed the game while too many here just whine about it.

There is no way we get the number of tickets at their stadium as they get in ours. If I remember right we get a small block in the upper deck and another one in the corner by the band in Ohio Stadium. Can't be more than a few thousand. They get practically an entire section in the end zone, a section in the corner, and a strip at the top. Way too many.

You don't like it? That's fine, but maybe you and the other whiners should pony up and pay for them. Then you can sell them to those you feel are deserving to attend.
Ohio State fans may be, largely, obnoxious but they show up and pay $$ to do so.

who sell them, and any interested buyer has access to them. It's not the seller's fault if an OSU fan is quicker to dial up stubhub, or willing to pay a higher price than a Michigan fan for a given ticket. The number of M fans who knowingly sell directly to Buckeyes is likely incredibly small.
Not to mention, with what some tickets were going for on the secondary market, can you blame someone for opting for a fistful of cash instead of sitting in the cold for 4 hours? Michigan didn't lose because the people who bought John Everyfan's tickets were wearing red jackets.

This has allowed sucknut fans to represent in the big house
Hoping in the near future once we start winning and can compete with osu, this will end
