OT: Les Miles to return at LSU

He knows it's over and ridding off the grass into the sunset.

.

edit: their AD announces that he's staying in the postgame presser.

These people at LSU are so damn confused.  They spend the last week leaking how he is being canned and that they are ready to pay his buyout ($15 real big ones) and now they wise up and say that he is still the coach?  Did someone read his contract and see the $15 big ones meant $15 million or did they ask Nebraska fan about life after a somewhat successful coach?  For how long will he be their coach, for another year, just thru the bowl game or just thru Sunday?

BTW, they had a #1 recruiting class according to many sites, how will this effect that?

LOL, none of this had anything to do with ESPN.  The Times-Picayune first reported the story weeks ago, and it just rolled from there with plenty of non-ESPN reports corraborating it.  All of the talk was coming out of LSU -- not Bristol, CT.  You think Les got carried off and was carrying himself like a man who coached his last game at LSU because of an ESPN report?

People are crazy with their ESPN hate, man.

Where there is smoke there is fire... I don't doubt that. I said this in jest, but if you followed this live tonight, they were shocked and completely unprepared for the news that he was staying. They cut away from the presser, then kept on about how they should keep Les. I don't hate espn, but while they act like they have the inside scoop, there's a reason I dont go to "worldwide leader in sports" for coverage of my favorite teams.

Not fired now. He's a good coach and lived there. He has the #1 class coming in next year and the #1 player in the country returning. It was a joke he was getting fired.

In ten years, he's had 5 top-ten finishes, 2 national title game appearances, 1 national title, 7 seasons of double-digit wins, and 6 bowl victories.  I know he's aging and LSU wants to make a change, but they better be careful.

EDIT:  Nice reporting ESPN.

With all the media pundits saying how stupid it was and how big of a mistake it was...

...then Jimbo comes out and says he's happy at FSU

...then the crowd chants his name and you see all of the support for Miles.

I really don't think they're going to get rid of Miles, it's such an unpopular decision...and that's how the SEC is, it's such a "what have you done THIS moment" league.

I truly believe he was fired until those 3 things I mentioned happened...now, now he might say "go fuck yourselves." Because it's Les fucking Miles.

He is basically John Cooper with a NC.  Cant beat Bama but otherwise generally very good.  I think LSU needs to be careful of what they wish for.  He is not elite but he is darn good.  It can get a lot worse - just ask us, ND, TN.

Fun fact: Most AD's around the country are pussies

I've been at two schools where a decision was made to cut sports and the AD backed out at the last second. And in looking around the country and some of these high pressure decisions...media attention, fan perception, they come into play SO much more than people realize.

I mentioned it above, I knew this week when ALL of the guys on TV were saying how big of a mistake it was. That was the first step - because they're giving facts and now the fans have cooled off from the last loss and they realize...oh shit, he's actually pretty good.

Then this morning Jimbo Fisher basically says he's staying at FSU. That' was the nail in the coffin right there...because Jimbo was the only guy they could've replaced Les with to justify the decision. Tom Herman wouldn't even have done it and he may be a better ccoach.

The fan support today, the standing O, the win, the postgame...all of that just blew the coffin to bits. No nail needed. It was 100% solidifed after that.

...and let me tell you, it's not just the AD, it's the high ranking boosters and University officials too. They HATE media pressure/spotlight/tough decisions that cause controversy. So all of those people pressuring to fire Miles...some of those folks backed off too.

This was athletics administration 101 right here. You could see it coming from a mile away. Now Miles is going to have leverage, but at the same time...if he fucks up next year, he's gone, no question.

Just think, if Bill Martin wasn't such a putz that couldn't be bothered during his squash practice and sailing, we'd have Les Miles and Rick Pitino.

Crazy. Thankfully we like what we have now.
