UM on All BIG

Submitted by massblue on

With season almost over, which UM players will appear on all BIG 1st and 2nd teams?

1st

Butt, Lewis, Chesson, Peppers

2nd

Henry, Wormely, Rudock

Pre-season, we had none.  Harbaugh effect.

I don't think he's even close. Burbridge and OSU's Thomas will be first team

Rudock's no second team either.

And right or wrong, I think OSU and MSU dominate the DL two deep. Just because media.

I think its fair to say that the osu quarterbacks will be left out. Sudfield might take that spot from Rudock and its not like cook has had a great year so I dont know where you put him

I could see Peppers being left off a lot of lists because what is his position. And Harbaugh. and just general B1G-ish incompetence and bias in general.

For some of the same reasons I could see them leaving Butt off First Team as well. I could see them saying Miller because OSU or the MSU guy just because MSU. Not saying he shouldn't be tops in the league, because, obviously he is. But just because it's obvious doesn't mean the B1G would have anything to do with it.

Ryan Glasgow was our best DL this year, and he would have barely made 2nd team.  I agree with Lewis and maybe Butt, but the rest you have listed are somewhat of a stretch.

But next year, It wouldn't surprise me to see Glasgow, Wormley, Peppers, Mason Cole, Henry, Lewis(Please stay), Brian Mone and Butt all step up and make all B1G 1st/2nd teams.  The 4 DL will probably not all make it, but I think 2 will.

Butt, Lewis should be on the first team all B1G.

It is going to be tough for Rudock unless he puts up big yards third game in a row.

I see one DL in 2nd team.

If Chesson has a big game next week, he might squeak into 2nd team.

That is about it.

Butt and Lewis are first team for sure, probably no first team on the DL but I think all three of Henry, Wormley, and Glasgow could get mentioned.  If I had to bet, second team for Wormley (flashier stats) and honorable mention for the other two.  Rudock and Chesson maybe honorable mention with how they came on late.  Kicker seems kind of weak in conference this year, so Allen might get honorable mention?  Mason Cole might get mentioned, but the rest of the OL seems unlikely.

If they put a FB on the team, Houma seems likely somewhere.

1st team
Lewis, Butt, Chesson

2nd Team
Peppers, Henry

Honorable Mention
Rudock
If Jake hadn't had such a terrible start he's a second teamer. Sudfeld will be 2nd team

Hard to find Michigan DL to make the all conference. B1G DL is very deep with talents. Bosa and Nassib are a near lock to make the first team. You have that DE from Maryland and Calhoun getting 2nd team, although Calhoun could make 1st team. Michigan DE will get shut out from it. As for DT, you have Malik McDowell, Aldolphus Washington, Austin Johnson, and to name a few who are in competition for all conference. It's difficult to see one because there aren't a dominant DL at Michigan but collectively, they play very well.

As of right now, I think that Lewis (who ought to be 1st team All American), O'neill, and Butt are 1st team, with Peppers on 2nd team.  I don't think anyone else is likely to make it as things stand today, but strong performances against OSU by Rudock, Chesson, or a DL could push them up to 2nd team.

1st AA. He's a sure thing for 1st B1G. Butt is also but has a slight chance to be 2nd B1G. I don't think we'll have any other 1st team guys but a couple 2nd team guys may get in there.
