Who's got it better than us?

Submitted by the bee train on

After the last seven years, Harbaugh has this group heading into The Game with a chance (albeit slim) of playing for the B1G Title in his inaugural season. I don't think I've ever been this excited for the future of any athletic team I support. Thanks for a fun season MGoBloggers, hopefully we have 3 more left before it's a wrap!!!!!

I guess I'm just not that positive of a person to think this post is a good one. After last night a whole town of drunken brahs making snow penises have it better than us right now. Fuck Ohio, we better beat them next week or this post will make me even more depressed.

We say that every single year. We said Cousins was irreplaceable, and look how that turned out. At this point we should expect a battle every year until Dantonio retires. Not saying we won't win some or most of them, but Dantonio's staff is arguably the best in the country. If he had the support that a team like Michigan, Bama, or ND did, he would have already won a NC.

I cant stand this atitude. Dantonio's staff is arguably the best in the country? WTF has that staff accomplished? 2 B1G titles over 8 years.. nothing else..no NC or playoff appearences..nothing. Wow who could compete with that. MSU will lose to either PSU or Iowa, I am sure of that. Please tell me what "support" he is missing?

Dantonio, for all the talk from the Sparty Brahs really hasn't accomplished all that much except making MSU relevant in the most down period of Michigan football in my life (and I go back a ways with Michigan football). Certainly no more than Bert accomplished at Wiscy in his time there. The guy owned the two most inappropriately hired Michigan coaches in any of our lifetimes during the tenure of the Worst AD ever (even worse than the Texas guy). How did he do against competent Michigan coaching prior to that?

Dantonio is a solid coach but aside from a 1 in 1000 punt he loses to Michigan in Harbaugh's *first* year. Harbaugh is not going to get less talent to Michigan. The athletes are not going to get worse. Harbaugh and his NFL staff are going to recruit better and coach better than Dantonio. He already got there this year. Will those games be a challenge; probably, but every game at that level is hard.

Harbaugh took a 5-7 team with limited heart and will from last year playing largely the same players (except QB obviously) and is 9-2 with still as shot in the B1G. I'll take that all day over the next decade regardless of Dantonio. Staff v. staff is no comparison.

No comparison? Really. Man, delusional bunch in here.  Coach D is a top 5 coach in the country, and anyone outside of AA can see that. Two AP top 5 finishes in a row? Could end up being 3 this year too. When is the last time Michigan did that?

I could easily make the argument Brady Hoke's first year accomplished more than Harbaughs, and he did it while completely changing an offensive system and was left with little  talent and a way worse defense. So feel free to be excited, but I'd temper expectations a bit.

Jimbo is a lunatic who runs commitments and players off (as we have already seen with Matt Falcon and Pipkins, and even moreso at Stanford), and is just not a pleasant person to be around. It is no coincidence the guy gets pushed out wherever he goes in 3-4 years even if he wins. He is flat out embarassing to watch on the sidelines during a game.

BTW, would love to pull up the Jimmy commentary from when he called out your academic advisors pushing athletes to general studies degrees. Now you guys all praise him as the 2 coming of the Messiah. Hyopcrite much?

Get the fuck out of here with your bullshit.  You are clueless about the Falcon and Pipkins situations.  Have fun watching Harbaugh and company slap the shit out of your Spartans for the next decade - it is coming, and you know it.  It should have started this year, but you lucked out with that botched punt.  MSU is going to suck dick next year, and we will revel in your misery, you moron.

Listen fella, you can run that game at RCMB. You and the other sycophants and Dantonio enablers (see Ski Masks) can take comfort in it, I imagine. Keep telling yourself Harbaugh is the same as Hoke...and that somehow Dantonio is in his league. It took one year for M to catch up. You won on a fluke. Deal with it. Tell yourself that Dantonio's career narrative is the same as having coached in the league in Superbowls. Tell yourself Sparty isn't going to get trucked by Michigan recruiting and that the talent gap won't increase in the coming years. If you think Jabrill is a problem, just wait. Also, deny that NFL experienced assistants don't matter (look at Chesson/Darboh development under Fisch as an easy example) and we'll see where it goes.

Feel free to pull up the Jimmy commentary; he made it right with the program and Hackett before he got hired. People acknowledge he showed his ass on that.

Harbaugh can absolutely be grating, demanding and unpleasant. He does seem to run off players. It's possible he meets your "lunatic" criteria. That said, he's ours and he's flatly better than yours (happily backed by a myriad of institutional advantages Sparty can never know).

That light at the end of the tunnel for you...it's the train.

Exactly. All you are hearing right now is "And even without Cook!", but really, those were the ideal circumstances if you had to to play without him. The weather greatly reduced QB play as a factor. That took away OSU's trump card of Barrett vs State's mediocre secondary, while removing some of the pressure on O'Connor and Terry. Not to mention I think the constant switching between them kept Ohio State's defense off-balance. If State is without Cook next weekend, circumstances may be different. For all the weaknesses elsewhere, PSU would have the QB advantage.

Unfortunately, Dantonio vs Franklin is a horrific mismatch.

As much as I wanna take a turn to negative town, I won't. We have 9 wins!!! 9 wins! After a 5-7 season last year, who thought this was possible?! Forget about what State is doing or Ohio... Forget about any other teams, let's enjoy this. Enjoy the fact that we have a very bright future in Ann Arbor. Harbaugh doesn't have his guys yet and he's winning. We can all see what coaching can do. Glass half full, y'all.

Noooooooobody!

Let's not forget that MSU had to cash in their souls to beat Michigan. I don't want to sound like a sore loser, but Michigan showed that Sparty isn't the great that everyone claims them to be. Come on, it took a 1 in a million play to beat us.
Also, what about the future? You can't tell me you think Sparty has a brighter future than Michigan.

3 more what before what's a wrap? 3 more snowstorms before you wrap up your saplings? 3 more steak dinners before you wrap up your leftovers? 3 more trips to Meijer's before you wrap up your presents? What are we talking about here?!?

You know what? I can't argue with you. What other job can you mess up every week, misinterpret rules, overturn your decisions to ones even more incorrect, continue to get paid, and cost teams millions of dollars in bowl payouts? That's a pretty good gig.

Everyone is so up on Sparty, we have it pretty damn good. We had those bastards beat, we are better than them. Focus on OSU and beating them. Things are pretty damn good right now! It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

Of this "Team". Most people said that the wouldn't win more than 6 or 7 games. But, to have won 9 games and possibly win 11 or maybe 12 games this year is Outstanding. It's the Harbaugh effect maki g the believe how good they are and getting the most out of them.

This team has learned from Harbaugh what toughness is about.

The future is bright!

For this year, I see we beat Buckeyes next weekend and go to Rose Bowl with a win over Notre Dame. (I see purple face!)
