Most annoying player in B1G bball this year

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

With basketball season in full swing and the B1G season looming, I figure it's time to revisit an important annual question - who is the most annoying basketball player in the B1G?

I can provide you with no fixed criteria. The reason(s) this player annoys you are entirely subjective. All answers in this thread, however, are equally valid. This player can be annoying due to:

-a great amount of God-given skill while playing for the Buckeyes (Evan Turner)

-a penchant for hitting timely 3-pointers (pick an undersized Wisconsin guard)

-being a master at attaching himself to a PG's hip/forearm (Craft)

-choosing to play for Tom Crean over John Beilein (Yogi)

-seriously unfortunate looks combined with skill (Denzel Valentine)

-or an infatuation with the human ability to flex (Troy Williams).

The pick for this year, I think, is rather obvious - Bryn Forbes. Mildly talented but appears to have the confidence of an NBA lottery pick. Exuberance that far exceeds his ability to grow proper facial hair. Screams and floor slaps after every 3, followed by matador defense. Swagger befitting a kid from NYC not the greater Lansing area.

Agree/disagree?

it's Denzel Valentine and it's not even close. My question though, is, how did Lansing produce both Forbes and Valentine? There hasn't been that much hoops talent come out of Lansing since the Vincent brothers were playing for STAEE and that one guy who went to Michigan - Robert Henderson.

1999 lansing Waverly had Marcus Taylor (MSU) and Courtney Scott (Iowa) on the same high school team. Taylor was supposed to be the next Magic Johnson. then he left MSU early and flamed out in europe.

Matt Costello - he exudes all the confidence (read: cockiness) of a big time player with absolutely none of the talent to back it up. Fuck that guy, sideways if possible.

Immediately thought of Valentine.  Easy to underestimate because he's not really great at one thing.  Which makes his great plays even more frustrating.

Also... a very punchable face.

valentine and forbes are an annoying 1 2 punch. Forbes act like he won the super bowl after every made shot

I think that's what annoys me most about Forbes. Valentine at least acts like he's been there before - cause he has. Forbes does that scream/flex thing after every three and it drives me crazy. How about just not doing anything and running back on D? Too much to ask?

as I know Bryn, so I won't comment on the non-basketball impressions, but he is not a cocky player.  To the contrary, he has always deferred to Denzel.  Bryn has better all ball skills than one gets to see--watch him play summer ball--but he rarely tries to do much with the ball.  As a result, he often plays scared--afraid to make a mistake--rather than cocky.  Now Eron Harris is truly cocky--with not much to show for it in the B10 yet.

I vote Costello.

even close. Worse is having Vitale talk about him an entire game. Really, it was pure torture, the kind of torture where you think there might be a let up but you look up and see Izzo and it gets worse.

Valentine, Forbes, Costello, and Schilling, and of course, Coach Izzo. MSU has replaced Wisconsin and Duke as having the most annoying collection of players and coach.

And I don't know TumTum well enough to know if he's annoying, but come on, you are ~20 years old. TumTum was cute when you were 3. Now? It's just annoying.

McQuiad (sp?) will take this over next year.  He was a Beilein recruit who can shoot the 3 well and appears to have Nik like after shot gestures.

Curious why we stopped recruiting him.

Denzel in a landslide this year.  When he got in people's faces while on the bench he got the  honorary lifetime award.  Nik was ranked behind him and went to the NBA 2 years ago - he is of course a 4 year player for Izzo despite both being ranked identical out of HS.

Number 1 without question is Denzel Valentine, he's been working on this since he arrived on campus. A close second, however, goes to Jake Layman who looks like he belongs at Dukebag University

Craft (I know he is gone, but will forever hate him and his blush cheeks) and Valentine (fix your gap teeth, bruh) have my votes.

Why Layman?  I don't know man, the guys just bothers me.  I think it might have to do with his hair or the apparent facial hair he is now trying to sport.
