"Dad" Rudock and the "Mean Girl" QBs
Yes you read that right. Embed below of a recent interview with Graham Glasgow being asked about how Rudock acts in practice and said that the other QBs call him "Dad". The Mean Girls reference isn't really too negative though. He mentions that the other QBs appear to act a little more childish talking about girls at practice and gossip a little more and Rudock has more of an old man vibe to distance himself and be business all the time. One of the more fun interviews I've seen this year.

"Do you call him Dad?"
"No, I don't call him Dad, I'm older than him."
I laughed. Very cool interview.

Rudock's demeanor is perfect for this team...in fact, I've never really seen anything like it at this level. His focus is equally awesome and infectious.
I remember in the Utah game some posted RIPPED me for saying that I loved his command of the huddle and the offense. He and Harbaugh always on the same page.
Can he run a 4.5 and throw it 80 yards? No. Did have the Shane Morris hype machine? No. But he was exactly what we needed.
Even a few games in...someone tried to prove a point that he wasn't better than last year's Devin by showing the stats.
He wasn't playing that much better, but you could see it was coming. If you know football, you could see this going all the way back to the Utah game. We'd finally found a QB. He just needed to get comfortable, get a rhythm and build some chemistry.

Love Rudock, but uh, yeah that can't be true.

To be fair he wasn't talking about the numbers or physical side. He was talking about Rudock's leadership and command. He's a calming presence and is all business. That's what you want out of your starting QB. Someone who knows what to do and knows how to get it done.

Ok Point made but, earlier in the season he was missing every long ball ( even to wide open receivers) he threw and even short easy throws. These might be the worst defenses in the big ten but it's not like Oregon state, Maryland and UNLV where top defenses by any stretch, he struggled against those defenses. The last two weeks he played lights out and was the main reason we won vs. Indiana. There is no reason he can't play like this the next three weeks.

I agree Yost. You and I were two of the only ones here defending Rudock. (2 of those opening game INTs were not on him :).
It took him a while to get comfortable with this offense and WRs, which is not surprising. He showed up for training camp.
Ever since the Minnesota (Targeting but not called) hit... Jake has been off-the-chain Unstoppable.

That targeting hit caused something in his brain to click and he's currently not actually awake but simply dreaming of playing football. He is incapable to focus on anything but, like the kid in rookie of the year breaking his arm only able to throw ridiculous fastballs. He's now only able to focus on football.

I, too, have been impressed by Rudock's demeanor. Not so his performance. Hope I'm wrong, but I feel his Indiana game was more of an outlier and not part of a trend. If he can play at that high level the last two regular games, I will be extremely happy.

Because in terms of being an under grad student, Rudock "doesn't even go here".

"Trang Pak made out with Coach Urban Meyer!"

This hit and the subsequent TD to JBooty was when I realized Rudock was our guy for the entire year and any thought of Shane taking a snap this year would be a catastrophe. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jake+ruddock+rocked+utah

Wish we had another year with him. One problem w/ bringing in grad transfers like Ruddock and potentially Taysom Hill next year is that it takes time for them, and the rest of the team, to become comfortable w/ each other, as we're seeing now. Hopefully next offseason we settle on someone who can be a multi-year starter.
