Welp, there goes B1G title hopes. Even I didn't expect how terrible UM's run D is without him. Ridiculous that UM suffers two season ending injuries to the NT position. There goes a great three deep at that position.

Elliot is going to run roughshod over us and then combine our LB play with JT Barrett's running ability and I think the Glasgow injury puts the Ohio State game out of reach. It will probably look a heck of a lot like this game but Ohio State has a really good defense. Unless we Rudock has another 6 TD and we miraculously figure how to consistently run the football I don't see us beating that team. Now if Cardale Jones plays on the other hand…

They straight up ran us over, there wasn't any weirdness or tempo for most of the game. We played cover zero much of the second half (thank God for good corners) and still barely slowed Howard. It is just one game, but it certainly doesn't bode well for Ohio and Ezekiel Elliott, especially with an extra running threat in the QB.

They were bleeding clock most of the 4th. Yeah, they snuck a few quick snaps in but it wasn't like we weren't lined up. It made no difference, in fact they gashed us worse at the end then in the beginning when they were running tempo.

As far as weirdness, I saw outside zone and inside zone over and over. Not exactly cutting edge trickery.

I'm in between in this. There weren't a lot of unexpected run fits or anything, but there definitely was tempo. Indiana just ran a ton of plays and the short-handed DL could not go at full steam both because they needed to conserve energy and because, later on, they had been stripped of it. Tempo was definitely a factor.

But so was the DL getting beat. Indiana was gashing us from the opening snap. Not encouraging.

The season wears on you, truly.

As easy as it is to get hyped up and watch from the stands of living room, it's not an easy game out there.

No matter what anyone says, players do, inevitably, slump and "take snaps/quarters/games" off. It's just impossible not to.

Put simply, it's impossible not to look ahead. My guess is, they looked a little too far ahead of this game, and saw it a little too much as a sure-thing. It's only human, Alabama did it with LSU when they played Tennessee. It happens.

The hope is that you recognize it, snap out of it, and rise to the occasion.

It's not easy to watch your favorite team do it. And i understand the worry/frustration, but the important thing is we survived.

Durkin and Co. will be able to scheme up for next week, and we'll adjust around our injuries.

Every team has it's off week. And sure, this one cut pretty close. But Idiana could just as easily be a 7 or 8 win team. They were no joke. Best 6-loss team in the country.

But we'll be alright. And we'll be back!

Glasgow is a great player and will be missed but today was only partly due to him being out. Durkin had a bad game plan, giving far too much respect to Sudfeld by havint the safeties playing 20-25 yards back the entire game. That really allowed IU to gash Michigan on the ground. Adjustments should have been made, bringing the deep guys into the box and stopping the run. The DL is not nearly as bad as they looked today as they were playing 11 on 9 most downs.

And after the early success the OL thrived on its success and got more and more confident...while the DL may have had the opposite reacition.

Got the W and have a week to sort out the situtation on the D Line.

I hope you're right. I mean give me some hope that the debacle I saw out there on defense can be fixed with a better defensive scheme. Yeah, that's what I wanna believe.

not a ton durkin can do if the DL gets pushed around (not terribly but it hasnt been good lately) and the LBs and safeties are awful in pursuit or miss tackles.

while theyve been average for past few years, the LBs are far from impact players and they continue to struggle.  whether its struggling to shed blocks and fill gaps, struggling to pick through traffic and meet backs on the perimeter, struggling in pass coverage, struggling to make tackles in open field, struggling to pressure QB on the blitz - its been a struggle for all of them, regardless of stats or whatever pundits might say.  and the DBs have not helped matters past few games, theyve also missed open field tackles, taken poor angles, etc.   if the DL does not dominate by controlling the LOS, eating blocks and making big tackles themselves, this D struggles to stop decent run games.

not sure how durkin can adjust to poor play or execution.  coaches can only do so much.  i dont agree with all durkins calls or personnel decisions but hes at the mercy of his players, not the other way around.  jimmys and joes
