Changes on getting D. Dorsey?

Submitted by um4life on
For anyone in-the-know... What are our chances with this guy? I know he has a solid verbal with Florida. He would obviously be a HUGE get and would could start day 1. Do we really have a shot with this kid or is he just taking advantage of a free trip?

My gut feeling is that he's up here to visit Denard and take a cursory look at the facilities/program. I think he'll end up staying down south, but I'll hope for the opposite.

I put it at about 10 or 15% for the reasons Magnus has stated. He is curious about M is about and wants to chill with his cousin. I hope he falls in love with AA and wants to spend the next 4 years there, but I dont think that it will happen

i am drinking the Knight/Dorsey/Parker juice and often imagine a good defense starts from the outside in. bring them all in, tell them they will see the field first game. shut down the pass, shut down the field...

He recently indicated that his commitment to Florida was soft. I don't know if it was related to Florida getting Matt Elam or not, but several programs started calling. It seems he was reconsidering Florida State, Miami, and Tennessee. Supposedly he was planning to visit Tennessee this weekend, but changes there opened up his schedule. Someone posted that he met Devin Gardner at the Under Armour Game and they hit it off. I guess if you combine Tennessee dropping out, Matt Elam signing with Florida, a chance meeting with a Michigan superstar, and the fact that he's related to Denard, his visit is serendipity. I hope it all adds up to a commit. Go Blue!!

The last time we had a "cousin to cousin" recruiting situation, it was Toney Clemons and Terrelle Pryor. We thought this connection would give us a good chance, but it basically turned out as bad as possible. But neither Terrelle or Toney are Michigan Men. They are the antithesis of Michigan Men. I have a good feeling about Denard, especially after watching him run track today. Here's to Dorsey joining his cousin up in Ann Arbor.

While I am sure the cousin thing certainly helps, if his relationship with his cousins is anything like mine, it will have little impact on his final college decision. Again, I agree with most of you. It is great to get him on campus, but a switch is unlikely

I read on several boards (Florida and FSU) that Dorsey was unlikely to qualify. Anyone know what his academic status is? With the Witty and Drake academic crap going down, wouldn't admissions be just as harsh with any other borderline guys?

Starting at Florida will be a problem early for Dorsey given their safety depth (which is good) plus the inclusion of Elam this year. If he is figuring to play in the next couple of years then Michigan is the right location. Let's not forget that RichRod has some prospects back there just now and I am looking forward to seeing the impaler at the Spring Game.
