Your Predictions for Basketball Season

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

With the first game right around the corner, I'd love to hear some of your predictions for basketball season (aside from overall record).

Here's mine - Moritz Wagner doesn't get a redshirt and, provided he learns how to set a proper high-post pick, gets time in the rotation at the 5 ahead of Donnal.

don't see it.  I think they would have made that move already if it was going to happen.  If they knew that the tire tracks were going to be part of the deal, I don't know why they didn't just say "make us the exact same uniforms we wore last year."  I don't believe that Michigan has no authority to reject the uniforms they are provided with and cannot believe they gave these the OK.  I know many people think they are just uniforms and who cares but, with limited exceptions, Michigan basketball uniforms have been consisently good and these are really embarassing.

Purdue beats Indiana again.  Wisconsin becomes unbearable to watch again as Bo Ryan once again becomes the grinch who stole fun out of basketball.  Thad Matta still looks like a goblin.

I believe we have a few head scratchers early in the season due mostly to chemistry issues. And then hit our stride and end up tying for the BIG regular season championship. Sweet Sixteen run.

then come March, Michigan will make a run that most experts said "Michigan was very capable of, but did not know if it would happen" just to cover their credibility. Michigan will finish 3rd-4th in the B1G, but I see another Elite 8 run, even further, if Levert/Walton/Irvin can all stay healthy.

Starters

Walton, 32 MPG

LeVert, 32 MPG

Dawkins, 20 MPG

Irvin, 32 MPG

Doyle, 24 MPG

Reserves

Spike 24 MPG

Robinson 20 MPG

Donnal/DJ 16 MPG

Beilein likes to keep the rotation to 7-8 players. Kam might get some play during the non-conference season, but Robinson's shooting ability fits Beilein's offense much better so I think he gets the bulk of those bench wing minutes. I think if anybody is going to suffer the sophomore slump, it's Dawkins. His shooting form seems a little odd to me and if it gets off a little he could struggle. Additionally, with Walton and LeVert back, his chances are going to be reduced and shooters need volume to get into a rhythm. I think he still starts and contributes, but Robinson could take minutes from him. Beilein probably plays them both early and then goes with the hot hand.

big Ten title and elite 8 barring significant injuries. Levert plays his way into a lottery pick. Robinson reminds us of Stauskas (mostly a shooter though), which makes this offense lethal. Beilein goes with a deeper rotation than previous years, platoon ing 4 guys at a time which keeps us fresh. Donnal rarely plays and transfers at year end.

1) I'm going to take a personal day on March 18th and watch Walton run the pick and roll to perfection, with Dawkins throwing down a dunk so angry, that they refuse to show replays due to the aggressive nature of the play.

2) Rammstein makes an appearance during pregame intros and, in a sudden fit of rage, Wagner develops super human strength and begins to rain hellfire on the opposite defense.

3) Beilein gets a technical foul for (once again) telling a ref that he is "softer than a Christmas ham"

We b**ch slap MSU this year. We outrebound more than 75% of the teams this year. We lead the nation in 3 point makes and %. We lead B1G in free throw %. Our defense is top 50. Beilein wins B1G coach of the year.

20 - 23 games in reg season, maybe win a couple of games in BTT and make it at least to the sweet 16.

I think Robinson should start, Chatman should play very little till he becomes less clumsy if that's possible.

Starters:

Caris, Walton, Irvin, Robinson and WIlson/Doyle/Donnal splitting time at the 5 with Wagner eventually becoming the starter there after gaining some experience.

Dawkins, MAAR, Spike all getting significant minutes.

Walton, Irvin, LeVert, Doyle, and Robinson end up being the starters by the time the Big10 season rolls around. Rahkman, Dawkins, Wagner, Chatman, and Albrecht fight for the leftovers.
