Dillon Baxter excited to play for Kiffin?
In an article about Ed Orgeron contacting Tennessee recruits there is a small quote about Dillon Baxter. Take it however you want.
San Diego Mission Bay running back Dillon Baxter also seems excited about playing for Kiffin, his coach, Willie Matson, said.

I take it to mean that Kiffin is going to be Michigan's new LB coach.

I realize that they are 18 years-old and are relatively naive to the ways of the world, but how do these kids fall for the bullsh*t that Lane Kiffin shovels? He basically leaves a trail of violations everywhere he goes. It's clear the whole world thinks he is a Grade A scumbag and question his capability. I cannot believe he's Monte's son.
Whereas I was annoyed by the smugness of Charlie Weis I cannot stand the gall of Lane.
January 14th, 2010 at 5:11 PM ^
Hotter girls at USC. Kiffin's taking the best idea he got from Tennessee (the escort service) and bringing it to where it can do its best work.
January 14th, 2010 at 10:53 PM ^
The bs he shovels? You mean all of the extra incentives they get to play for him? Its not like he was selling academics to these kids (Even though we all know that's the real reasoning behind their decsions). Sidebar to be an e-d-bag, because everyone loves those oppurtunities, but how can you have a one point trail of violations? The jury is still out on Lane Kiffin as a coach, he hasnt been anywhere long enough to show quantitative results, he could be just as good of a coach as Monte.
January 14th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
Slim to none chances that Baxter comes to Michigan. Orgeron and Kiffin aren't going to let him go that easily.
January 14th, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
You're right. I bet Dillon Baxter will be driving a fine automobile quite soon.
January 14th, 2010 at 4:08 PM ^
Um, do you know what our football players drive?
January 14th, 2010 at 4:14 PM ^
No I do not, but if they get cars like this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgeAzjlpmPw ) we may have some trouble on our hands in the future.
January 14th, 2010 at 4:15 PM ^
No. What do they drive?
January 14th, 2010 at 5:45 PM ^
Used to get around campus in a Bitchin' tricked-out hearse.

January 14th, 2010 at 2:04 PM ^
How does a guy the whole country is calling a weasel convincing players to love hm so much? We suffer from simple negative recruiting about the weather, but nobody seems to be able to neg-recruit against Kiffin with the ammount of ammunition this guy has given? WTF?
January 14th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
Hey, there are plenty of MGoCommenters who believe that Kiffin bears no responsibility whatsoever for what's gone down at USC, and besides, USC isn't guilty of anything anyhow, and besides, everybody at MGoBlog would have done what Kiffin did so, what's the big deal anyhow?
January 14th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
Assuming you are serious, which I hope you are not, my comment has more to do with Kiffin's string of blunders and minor violations at Tenn., his lack of loyalty, and his losing record at every head coaching position he has held.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
Kiffin is a saint!!!

Seriously, when did any of us say that? I did most of the saying, and I said nothing like that.
January 14th, 2010 at 5:08 PM ^
You should know that rationally adding a dissenting viewpoint with factual evidence to support your argument is the equivalent of sanctifying Lane Kiffin.
January 14th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
7-6 is a losing record?
January 14th, 2010 at 3:24 PM ^
I assume the OP is counting Kiffin's stint with the Raiders, too, where he went 5-15.
His total win/loss record as a HC is 12-21.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
is simply riding the Pete Carroll gravy train. Kiffin probably doesn't have to do much more than just phone the recruit to win him over. It's like that extremely hot chick that you met at the bar and somehow managed to pull her number. You call her and leave a message. And then she calls you back?! Holy crap!
Am I a little jealous? Yes.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:53 PM ^
so i'm unclear on who is the hot chick in your analogy: Kiffin? the recruit? USC?
If anything, it seems like the recruit is the guy who gets called back by the hot chick (USC/Pete Carroll with an offer), then finds out that the hot chick is taken, but now Kiffin is the hot chick's friend who is available and got the dude's number from the hot chick.
January 14th, 2010 at 3:04 PM ^
It's sounding more and more like USC's verbal commits view Kiffin not as the shady, average coach that he *allegedly* is, but as a Pete Carroll clone. So, in this regard, the "hot chick" is Pete Carroll. I know, it all sounds strange but it makes sense...at least to me.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
It makes no sense to me either. Just flat ridiculous how crazy recruiting has become
January 14th, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
These kids feel invincible and are not worried in the least about anything bad happening to them.
January 14th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
I have always wondered this too. How is it that some dunces who suck as coaches manage to convince so many great high school prospects to play for them when they have a record of mediocrity, idiocy, and/or failure? Some people are just born with the gift of slick talking and salesmanship, I guess.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:07 PM ^
Today on rivals radio Tom dienhart said he just talked to baxter and its Florida,Oregon,or USC take it FWIW
January 14th, 2010 at 2:10 PM ^
I wasn't gonna hang this recruiting class on whether he came here or not. Sure it would have been great to get him to play here but it is what it is. I hope he does great wherever he goes. I just can't understand why he, or any other recruit that had their choice of where to go, would want to play for a school that is more than likely going to be under stiff sanctions from the NCAA instead of somewhere else even if it wasn't Michigan.
I do not know this as fact (the sanctions) but from what I have read it seems certain. I guess a childhood dream is hard to pass up no matter what the consequences.
Good luck to him wherever he goes. He should be fun to watch if what is said about him holds true.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:23 PM ^
is a lot like George W. Powerful daddy in his chosen profession, legacy of screw-ball tactics and border-line failure at previous stops, and somehow falls into these positions of power.
January 14th, 2010 at 2:29 PM ^
Great comparison! Bush ran multiple companies and a MLB franchise into the ground and was then elected governor of Texas. It makes me sad for the world when I realize that 95% of the people in this country are lemmings to whatever name they recognize from TV. That is not a democrat or republican thing, just a sociological thing. Whether they watch FOX, CNN or some idiot talking about how much faster the kid from Florida on the SEC team is than the kid from Florida on the Big Ten team, I can almost see them nodding their head in agreement.

OK, I can see not debating politics, but he was merely comparing a sports figure to a politcal figure based on his father gaining him some credibility. Bush's failures in business before his presidency are pretty well documented and he didn't go into debating him politically (and neither did I).

Do you think you're cool because you walk around town with a briefcase full of orange juice reports handcuffed to your arm?

Yes. Only the coolest of cool kids can do it.

It's a good thing you've got the fancy avatar, because your posts are neither smart nor funny. At least your WLA comrades make decent points every now and then.

Oh come on. You've enjoyed neither of my videos nor animated gifs? The Charlie Weis flash game didn't get you to crack a smile? How to use HTML sticky is useless? Recruiting Self-Test?
Michigan football is just a way to have some fun for me. I just no longer bother to get into debates because I'm not going to convince anyone of anything on this board.
