No politics - but it sure seems like some people do their best to tear down great institutions. Nobody can be #1; be happy with a participation trophy. Let's lead from behind.

Marlins Park ----- I use the word "supposedly" because that's all caught up in city of Miami politics. The Marlins and their jag-off owner Jeffery Lauria are making things VERY difficult in terms of the stadium getting built.
But if that stadium does get built, "the U" should seriously try to "piggy back" on the deal and see if they can play their games there. It's something that has been talked about.
Marlins Park is of course on the Orange Bowl's old footprint. Miami football would draw fans there, and there does look to be (barely) just enough room to shoehorn a 2nd stadium in there.

The city will never finance another stadium after getting fleeced by Lauria scum bucket ass.

The University of Miami still has 17 years remaining (including this year) on their lease with Sun Life Stadium.

Joe Robbie is a very sterile and generic atmosphere. Imagine the Silverdome without a roof and you have Joe Robbie. Orange Bowl was a much more intimidating and intimate atmosphere.

The Clemson game was an anomaly in that regard. Their crappy stadium is just a crappy excuse for a crappy team.

Imagine if Michigan had to play at Ford Field every fucking Saturday...
Students have to get shuttled to Detroit after tailgating every week.
Yeah... doesn't sound fun does it?
That's what happens for Miami home games. The Orangebowl was at least within the reach of campus in Coral Gables since it was located in Little Havana.
Landshark Stadium is 1 hour away on the other side of the city. It's not like Stephen Ross gives a fuck about the U either.
What coach would want to coach at a school without a home crowd? Shiet what player would want to play there?
I'm still impressed the U can pull the recruits it still does off its past glory given the shitty facilities and lack of a home stadium.

advantages are the incredible pool of local talent and that it's in Miami. The facillities might be poor, but you're spending the rest of your time in Miami. It doesn't matter what a school like Purdue spends on their facilities. They still have to bring kids to West Lafayette.

the bikini clad ladies that abound there.......one walk down the beach on the right day in south shore and you will have a string of commitments the same day....unless of course they visit Louisville afterward, then you might lose a couple.

Did you ever attend a game there? I worked for The U, just up the street from the Orange Bowl. I attended many games there including Gerry Faust's last game as the Notre Dame coach that ended in a blow out.
The Orange Bowl reminds me of the old Tiger Stadium, best when seen through the eyes of nostaligia. The place was a dump, bad parking situation, street crime around the stadium, archaic design.
Even at the height of the Whoricane success they didn't draw good crowds to the Orange Bowl unless it was a marquee matchup. 20K was a good crowd for many of thier games.

On behalf of my family I want to thank the University of Miami for a tremendous opportunity,” Golden said. “I believe in what we are doing and how we are doing it and we have some outstanding young men in our football program. Though this moment is difficult, we wish the Canes the best of luck going forward.
Class guy.
Obviously has a better understanding of how to leave a position than someone who will remain nameless.

Golden to Maryland.
October 25th, 2015 at 8:09 PM ^
That would not be a bad move for him and MD. He is still a decent coach.
October 25th, 2015 at 8:19 PM ^
Actually that's pretty perfect fit.
Born in NJ.
Attended Penn State.
And spent time as a coach at Virginia (two different times) and Temple. He knows the area.
October 25th, 2015 at 9:41 PM ^
Their coach should be a candidate for bigger jobs. I keep hearing Maryland is aiming high. Not sure how realistic that is, but I don't see Golden going straight back to another power 5 school.

It seems like the "gentlemens agreement" to wait till the end of the season is totally dead
what a far way we have come since Brandon waited till the bowl game was over to fire RR- now its hasta la vista baby- guards will escort you to the door
