sheridan isn't what i'd call versatile, his passes look like punts. it's hard to throw the ball around, he just has no arm strength.

That's the hand that RichRod was dealt. When he has a real quarterback to run the offense (sorry Nick - god bless you but you just don't have the talent it takes to run this offense) you'll see things opened up a bit. I tell you, RichRod won at WVU with 2 and 3 star recruits. When he has a team loaded with 3, 4 and 5 star recruits watch out. He'll get the last laugh.

My only nitpick was the QB draw on a 3rd and 15 in OSU territory. Diamond formation or not, there's no way Sheridan's picking up 15 on a draw against OSU.

Coincidentally enough, there is no way he's picking up 15 on a pass against OSU either.

Granted, it is quite the Catch-22 . . . but I think Sheridan was slightly more likely to get it through the air. Maybe an OSU DB would have slipped, or committed pass interference, or . . . um, collided with a teammate?
Or they could've just called a draw for Minor/Shaw. Asking Sheridan to run for it just wasn't playing the percentages (crappy though they all were).

Read my other response to your post. And I've been pretty consistent in calling Sheridan (not Threet, I think he's got potential) the worst QB in D1. Check the OSU score prediction thread. However, it's normally to temper expectations or make snide comments. When people question calling a draw for Sheridan, I do think it's not bad to point out that it's not like there was much of a choice.

Everyone in the world knew it was a QB draw- is it remotely possible we could have tried something different? Or are we setting something up for two years from now? My all time favorite was in the Cap One bowl when Henne threw it the other way to the TE.

I'm not sure, but we used to run the transcontinental out of a similar formation, and I hope RR brings it back. That play was fantastic to watch. I'll never forget the "elephant stampede" during '03 Minnesota.

I give Sheridan all the credit in the world for getting where he is now.
BUT, last week, I said "I have never seen as poorly a quarterbacked game as this." We have a new winner. Sheridan lacked the accuracy to throw flare routes to the flat. When receivers were open, the horribleness of his throws brought them back into coverage. Sheridan may be faster than Threet, but he lacks the instincts to run - he has brought the Chad Henne/John Navarre-patented "turtle" back into the gameplan when there is pressure. Threet feels it, and tries to go. Sheridan braces for impact. He also didn't help himself by not throwing a single pass with his feet set.
Ironically, our most successful play (trap right) was run ad nauseum, and they never really consistently stopped it.
