We are still Michigan. Let's show some class.

Submitted by BlueCube on

All of us are upset, demoralized, devastated and whatever. However we are still Michigan. Let's show some class. There is a post from a long time member wishing that O'Neill would do us all a favor and leave school. Then he doubled down on the comment by saying he's not a real student and is devaluing his degree.

I can't imagine the hate Blake O'Neill is going to hear from all kinds of places, but (even disregarding all the times he has come through), no human being deserves to be treated like shit for a mistake. None of us were even close to being good enough to step on the field and be in the position to make the mistake.

It hurts like hell, but this is a game and I hope people show some class and support this whole team including Blake in the future.

A second post.

I'm not going to bag on O'neill, but this is one of the downsides of bringing on someone who hasn't played American football.  Between the 4th and 16 play and this, he has made some incredibly stupid decisions/mistakes.

Was like a spoiled cry baby during the post game q&a. He is such a pussy. No HC with any class at all tries to blame the refs. Especially when the game was called very fair. UM pass interfered all night and didn't get called, held all night and didn't get called. And tho the ejection was bullshit, that's all that was. I really got to see his truly classless, " my pussy hurts" , whiny bitch character. What a pathetic POS. Lose like a Man Jimmy !!! Lose Like a Man!!

I mean, you're obviously right about not getting carried away, etc. but it's only been an hour. People need to vent. It;s his teammates I feel bad for right now more so than O'Neill.

And while I don't wish any ill will on the kid, I'm willing to bet you're wrong about "none of us..." I think a number of posters on this board could've caught that snap. Or took a knee. Or spiked the ball. Or done anything other than... exactly what he did.

Fuck this class shit. Anything would have iced this game. ANYTHING. if Rudock could hit the broad side of a barn, if O'Neil had 2 IQ points about football, if our WRs could catch, if the REFS had eyeballs!!!!

Anything... Fuck this. Pass me the tequila.

I don't understand this argument at all.  Yes, maybe the 4th and 16 was a bad play (since it was well into a win I don't much care), but this game was the definition of a fluke play.  Him not jumping on the ball had way less to do with his familiarity with "American football" (I mean, he played football last year for Weber St. last year) and more just a kid trying to do too much with a bad situation.  He also booted an 80-yarder that flipped the field position and consistently pinned MSU in.

THAT TEAM THAT SPARTY AND OHIO STATE OWNS, THAT TEAM THAT FOR 7 OF THE LAST 8 YEARS SPARTY HAS ASS FUKED, THAT TEAM THAT FOR 11 OF THE LAST 12 YEARS OHIO STATE ASS FUKED. THAT TEAM THAT IS THE SHAME OF THE BIG10. THAT TEAM WITH THE CRY BABY COACH, YOU ARE MICHIGAN!! AND THAT SORE ASS PROVES IT.

Dude was on the ball all game. HE was awesome....just let the pressure get to him alittle and made a bad play....its a game...anyone who has it out for Oneil needs to truly get a life or grow up

I agree, this loss was not because of the last play . There were too many other dumb penalties .  Bad plays allowed, dropped passes, Bad throws, etc ,etc.

Michigan is still back. Look at how tough we played even though we didnt have our A game . Would you rather have what we have now. Or what we had last year when MSU spanked our ass??

I think the answer is pretty obvious .

If you're going to take the myopic view that this one play lost the game, (kidding - it actually did in this case) why all the punter hate? It's the shit snap that got that whole mess of a play going. I'm not saying blame the long-snapper either, but it was the snap that was really the problem, not what Puntin' Aussie did or didn't do.

The snap was basically uncatchable.

The protection was bad. The MSU line got through basically at the same speed as the snap.

But the coaches are the real story on that play. They know the guy who's been playing football for 3 years doesn't have perfect instincts yet and had a timeout to prepare him. They had 2 gunners even though MSU had no one back. One would have been sufficient. The other could have been, say, a few yards in front of the punter, where the ball ended up going. Or he could have been behind the punter as a return safety, given that this was literally the only way we could have lost the game.

To say nothing of the larger fact that they had 50% more yards than we did and honestly looked better in every facet except special teams, until we lost that, also.

It was uncatchable, but yet hit him right in the hands....

and in regards to your statemetn that we gave up 50% more yards....that really shows how good our defense was. Cook showed that he is a first round NFL QB. He hit throws all day that were heavily contested. You tip your hat for hitting those throws and go back after him. Despite the game he had, we should have won the game...Our offense scored more points than theirs did. The defense got beat bad only on one play...the only play I can think of over the last month. You need to redefine what a team is capable of especially when they are playing a true top 10 team with a future 1rst round pick at QB

it takes a team to win, and one to lose.  This one is not on our punter alone; lots of mistakes were made by lots of people in the fourth quarter alone.  Avoid even one and we win.  He happened to be out there at the end, but his teammates and coaches share in the loss.

DoubleShot

October 17th, 2015 at 8:46 PM ^

One more first down, pretty much any point in the fourth quarter, and we win that game. This is the ultimate team game. It was a horrible way to lose, and I hate it, but if we got three more yards on the previous three plays, Blake never sees the field and Rudock is taking a knee to run out the clock.

It isn't completely on O'Neill, it takes a team to win, and it takes a team to lose.

This doesn't change the fact that right now I feel like my testicles just went through a wood chipper.

luckily the last 10 years if UM football has numbed me to this stuff. it's sucks but I don't let it ruin me like it use to. the team will rally and finish strong.

That's sports man. The kid could go on to win the Heisman, and he would still be remembered as the guy that gift wrapped a win to MSU. Mostly by MSU fans, and the occasional OSU fan.

He'll come back from it, hopefully while also learning to just fall on the ball the next time he butterfingers a snap. It still hurts right now though. I can't imagine how much O'neill feels like shit right now.

That comment was deleted, as is anything wishing ill on a student. Criticize the on field product all you want, but if you're inclined to attack a player (or post wishes about dropping out, real/fakeass wolverine, ect) find a new blog. Seriously.

And then he lost it for us. I don't wish him ill, as I'm sure he feels awful enough already. But I need to wallow in this misery for a while.

I fell off the roof of my house today, shattering my car's windshield before hitting the concrete. And this loss hurts more.

I'm usually classy, but I couldn't help it...when a car drive by me on my way back to my parking spot, I shouted, "suck my dick, cunt," after they honked the horn and shouted "Go Green"....my dad has always tried to calm me down in these situations, and it worked for the last 9 years or so, but this one is going to sting for a while...go blue

I told my two young sons after the game, after the cursing and yelling of course, be proud to be a Michigan fan. They fought hard today and there will be another game and another one after that. Lots of wins and losses along the way but there will be more good days than bad. Hold your head up, cuz who has it better than we do? No (fucking) body!

post game interview is Michigan is a "very very good football team" and winning the game came from above. Also, the Player that ran the punt for the TD dislocated his hip on the play and is at the UM hospital.

He was very classy in the interview.

Well isn't that just fucking perfect. Now I have to stop feeling bad about a game, and feel sorry for Watts-Jackson for possibly getting knocked out for the rest of the season for winning the game for his team.

I hope he is okay, and Dantonio is a class act........... that last part tasted like bleach.

It is not worth anything. Dantonio has been an asshole for a solid decade now and the team and fans take after him. Showing thankfulness when gifted a fucking miracle doesn't mean jack shit.

Classy is actually following through on your discipline for a guy who brandished a firearm in a road rage incident instead of reinstating him because of injuries. Classy is not verbally sparring with a college student. Classy is not what Dantonio is. Fuck him.

but didn't he say something like "American players should play this American game"? Could be made up but I read from several that he did. If so, fuck him. If not? Fuck him lol. Naw, craziest ending of my life. I'm in an odd state of histerical acceptance with a tinge of upset stomach. I'll be fine by tomorrow or sooner. I just refuse to call him a class act because he isn't - at all. Nobody even brings up his comments about Hart, proudly admitting to playing dirty, disrespekt fever, etc. Great for them tonight on the miracle win but he's as classless as they come.

but if you deny that we lost because of him, you're just denying the truth out of some misplaced sense of niceness.

The dude isn't 12 years old, he's an adult. In life, you're put in positions where you can perform or you can't, no do-overs, no 2nd chances. A few million people saw him fail today. I don't know if we have to play the charade here of pretending it was some 3rd quarter bad play or a blown call that caused this defeat
