RB George Hill Decommits from OSU

Submitted by alum96 on

Not the RB we assumed but umm.....dominos are moving.

This might be a flip to Sparty of all people.  3 crystal balls in last month, incl Wiltfong and Bucknuts guy.

Now speculation could start that the Wisconsin RB recruit who decommitted and everyone has headed to OSU is due to this decommitment and not Kareem.  Hmm.

Another Ohio State class of 2016 commit has announced he too will look around at other programs. After losing the pledge of four-star defensive end Terrell Hall, Hubbard speedster George Hill is now back on the market and no longer verbally committed to the Buckeyes.

Hill, a four-star athlete, was the first class of 2016 commitment for the Buckeyes. Ending his recruitment in the summer of 2014 before his junior season, the Second Team All-Ohio selection might have been pegged to play his college ball in Columbus, but was still high on the recruiting board of other schools.

The Buckeyes Big Ten foe Michigan State, where Hill's friend and former Hubbard High teammate LJ Scott now plays has been rumored as one of the main programs after the 6'0, 200-pound standout for months. The Pittsburgh Panthers are also in the mix for his pledge.

With Hill no longer committed to Ohio State the national champion Buckeyes class of 2016 now currently sits at 18 verbal commitments.

He wants to play with Scott @ MSU.  I thnk Walker is as good as gone.  Hello, Antonio Williams ?  RB depth is not an issue for us right now so if we get Williams we will be OK !

Agreed, already have Sibley committed for next year (3rd ranked RB per ESPN #33 overall player) and will most likely land Trey Sermon too, #4 RB by composite on 247.  So even if we do end up with 1 true RB this class (McCall will be an HBack, but could very well be a change of pace back too as he is ranked as the 2nd best APB) we'll be fine.

No it's been known for awhile now that it was a matter of time before Hill decommits.  Apparently he wants to play defense (CB) and MSU and Pitt are both recruiting him for that postion whereas, the Bucks see him as a RB (obviously) since he is a top-5 ranked RB in the class.  It's been expected.

MSU is probably the play here, as his good friend and former HS teammate LJ Scott is a Fr RB for the Spartans (and a good one at that).

OSU saw him as a HB/Wr, and they didn't see him as being good enough to play for them. Basically pushed him out of the class. He was the first commit  so they evaluated him more and didn't think he fit anywhere

Aren't you an OSU fan? You should know this

Even though this may have been in the works for some time now, I can't help but think the OSU coaches pushed him away, hoping Kareem would like less competition. Urban is as sketchy as they come.

Definitely didn't push him away.  Birm, our recruiting guru has been saying this for months that it's just a matter of time before Hill decommits.  He wants to play defense in College whereas the Buckeyes wanted him on offense for obvious reasons.

He's been keeping it close to the vest actually.  Out of respect for Walker and the whole situation so he hasn't really said much about it but reading through the tea leaves I feel like Walker will decommit.  But who knows, maybe with Hill decommitting he'll feel better about the situation as a whole, but TBH he would fit better in UMs pro-style offense better... but then again, in a few years, 2 of the best RBs in the NFL may be former Buckeyes so that may play somewhat of a factor I'd like to think.

We'll see soon enough as he wants to enroll early.

Keyword - May.

In a few years, depending on how things pan out there could very well be two Buckeyes considered one of the better RBs in the league.  Hyde's less than 60 yards away from leading the league in rushing right now for a terrible 49er team and I'm basing the EZE talk on some of the mock drafts I've seen which had the Cowboys drafting him... and well, him behind that OL would be pretty nasty.  But of course it all depends, EZE could get drafted by the likes of the Browns and his career would go into the cellar before it even started.

You're a shitty OSU fan. You're right, they didn't push him away because Walker. This had nothing to do with Walker. But they did push him away. They told him to take other visits and look around. They didn't think he was good enough to play their HB position or DB.

I bet he wanted to be a buckeye but Urban made him decommit
