Naw, let's lay in the weeds.

Would rather not be to give them added motivation (doubtful they need it though) against what they likely perceive to be a weaker opponent
September 26th, 2015 at 4:26 PM ^
Or a top 25 ranking could give them validation that all of their hard work is paying off and motivate them to work harder.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:42 PM ^
Or - hear me out here - Harbaugh and co. don't give a shit about being ranked in the top anything and are going to simply stay focused on improving and winning games because that's what well-coached teams do.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:44 PM ^
Nailed it. Shut it down.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
Yep. Drop the mic and walk away.
September 26th, 2015 at 5:18 PM ^
Where did you find it?
September 26th, 2015 at 5:21 PM ^
Why did he bring back helmet stickers? Being ranked is to the team as helmet stickers are to the individual player.
September 26th, 2015 at 10:11 PM ^
Stickers are a sign of achievement and respect awarded within the team. Rankings are a sign of achievement and respect awarded by bloviating writers all over the nation and/or coaches (or their assistants) that have hardly even seen the team play. No contradiction in caring only about the former.
In the long run sure, national respect matters, but that will take care of itself. If we win out, we'll be in the playoff. Book it.
September 26th, 2015 at 5:33 PM ^
to break it to you, but in college football rankings matter. They don't determine outcomes but they matter, just ask TCU and Baylor. This team deserves to be ranked.
September 26th, 2015 at 5:47 PM ^
Not really in our case. IF (and that is a massive if) this team wins out, there is no way they don't make the playoffs. 12-1 with wins over #1 and #2 is an absolute lock.
September 26th, 2015 at 6:01 PM ^
just said rankings don't matter but only because if we win out we will have beaten the #1 and #2 ranked teams...
September 26th, 2015 at 6:20 PM ^
I'm saying we don't need to worry about building an impressive resume like TCU and Baylor might because of our strength of schedule.
September 26th, 2015 at 8:28 PM ^
Which is at least somewhat determined by rankings. Right?
September 26th, 2015 at 8:52 PM ^
Dare I say this, but brands matter. A Michigan team with Harbaugh has WAY more national cred than TCU or Baylor. Maybe in 5 years that won't be true, but it's true now.
September 26th, 2015 at 11:25 PM ^
In 5 years I suspect it will be more true.
September 26th, 2015 at 6:51 PM ^
by a committee they really don't. One only has to look at the basketball committee's seedings to see they trust their own judgment over the voters.
September 26th, 2015 at 5:52 PM ^
Yep. And if the team gets the slightest bit cocky, Harbaugh will remind them they're 0-1 in road games this year.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:30 PM ^
makes the MSU game more marketable. . .
September 26th, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
We'll be ranked pretty high for that one haha

How funny. "Enough said." in a double post.

Glitch in the matrix. I believe it was the arrival of swag to the Blue universe.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:20 PM ^
Still early enough that a win like this can cause a big bump. I say #19
September 26th, 2015 at 5:54 PM ^
Probably not quite that high since we do have a loss. But I'll be shocked if we aren't ranked now.
September 26th, 2015 at 6:20 PM ^
I would imagine 24-25. Until today we had no quality wins and a quality loss. Going up 31-0 and coasting vs a team that stood head to head with a top 10 team at their place last week is going to raise eyebrows.
Likewise, Boise State's demolishment of VA and West Virginia's of MD will have them moving into the to 25 - both had a good # of votes last week. BYU will fall out and I think Utah will do if Oregon wins by 2 TDs or so. TN might move into top 25 if they beat FL.
Frankly the schedule is looking easier by the week esp if 1st half rudock can stick around the program and not turn into 2nd half rudock. Minn and NW have good defenses but really bad offenses. Our defenses should hold both to mid teens so all the offense has to do is get to 20. MD and rutgers are awful. PSU is improving - Hack looks alive today finally and they have found a run game. So things are being restored to natural order.
MD on road and NW at home both very manageable and a 5-1 UM should be top 20. Then the next real test awaits.
September 26th, 2015 at 7:34 PM ^
but not higher than Utah unless they get absolutely throttled by Oregon.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:22 PM ^
Rankings shaman kings!
I'll leave that auto correct alone.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:22 PM ^
Receiving votes seems about right.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:23 PM ^
RT @KyleBogie: Anae also asked if he agrees with Bronco Mendenhall that Michigan is the best team they've faced thus far: "Totally agree.""

Word is Mark Dantonio is already interpreting this quote as being very insulting to MSU
September 26th, 2015 at 4:27 PM ^
Lets not talk about MSU, lets just beat MSU.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:35 PM ^
Why? Why?
September 26th, 2015 at 5:15 PM ^
He's a small, petulant little man with a massive inferiority complex. Wait, we're talking about Dantonio, right?
September 26th, 2015 at 4:35 PM ^
Why? Why?
September 26th, 2015 at 5:18 PM ^
Who the hell is Mark Dantonio?
September 26th, 2015 at 5:28 PM ^
Mike D'Antonio anyways.

I thought it was Mork?
September 26th, 2015 at 6:52 PM ^
No, you're thinking of that Robin Williams guy from space. Michigan State's coach is Dork Mantoni.
September 26th, 2015 at 4:25 PM ^
As I was leaving the stadium I heard some BYU fans talking and they said that the teams they've played up until now were on a lower tier than Michigan. I was like, "Okay. Sure. I'll take it."
September 26th, 2015 at 4:29 PM ^
Kind of reminds you of the days when you'd be, like, "Well yes, of course"

I heard B1G Live before the game talk about M getting ranked good for #1, #2 teams. However, I don't see us not ranked after this week. We are going to be ranked... How high. I don't know. If I take a guess, it will be 24.
