might be higher too by resume

If Mizzou were in the Big 10 (which by geography they should be!) they would start with 200 votes! The pollsters obviously are biased in favor of BIG TEN SPEED- hence the rankings!
September 20th, 2015 at 5:08 PM ^
Resume for Ole Miss is UT Martin Skyhawks and Fresno State along with Bama. One game is not a resume.
September 20th, 2015 at 7:05 PM ^
September 20th, 2015 at 7:23 PM ^
...but that's also why at this point in the season the voters are looking beyond the resume.
September 21st, 2015 at 12:38 AM ^
But with only 3 games being played, you're also looking at the end of last year, especially for teams whose key players from that team are still around. Sure, OSU hasn't played anyone super impressive this year, but we know that 9 months ago that (nearly) identical team won the national championship. It would be stupid if that didn't count for something.
September 20th, 2015 at 9:05 PM ^
MSU have struggled to dominate two mediocre teams and squeaked out a win over a likely down-year Oregon while being outgained in two of their three games and are now #2, so evidently one game is indeed a resume.
September 21st, 2015 at 10:58 AM ^
Auburn is still getting votes, which is beyond rediculous. No teams look unstoppable this year. There is a lot of just good football teams.
My guess is LSU will continue to rise though.
September 20th, 2015 at 7:47 PM ^
I don't see how they jumped so high honestly. Even with 5 turnovers, 3 of them deep on Alabama's side of the field, they needed TWO miracle plays to win by 6. That high snap was the absolute luckiest play I have ever seen.
LSU runs all over an Auburn team that hasn't stopped anyone all year and couldn't stop anyone last year.
September 20th, 2015 at 8:08 PM ^
Worrying about polls is a total waste given the new playoff system. I haven't looked at them in a long time. The polls still do the stupid crap they've always done. If you lose, you drop (Alabama is better than what they're ranked now). If you win, you stay or even move up (Missouri had 2 awful games against Arkansas St. and UConn the last 2 weeks).

I want Sparty #1 and OSU #2. It would give Michigan a chance to defeat two #1 teams in the same season.

Meh. We have Harbaugh now. After years of incompetent politics from the likes of Mary Sue, DB, Lloyd, etc. there are bound to be aftershocks.
September 20th, 2015 at 4:40 PM ^
If you set aside the five Big Ten conference championships and the national championship. Lloyd Carr's incompetence is inarguable. .
September 20th, 2015 at 4:43 PM ^
*goes back up and rereads*
Yup, he did.
September 20th, 2015 at 6:48 PM ^
yet his comment regarding Lloyd still makes no sense within the context of this discussion.

Agreed! It is nice though not to see 2 ess eee see schools at the top and their fanbases can just shut the fuck up.
September 20th, 2015 at 8:03 PM ^
I'd rather see 10 SEC teams at 1 through 10 than this.

Good qustion. For whatever reason I had several thousand points suddenly deducted for no apparent reason. I have emailed the admins and asked about it in other places including the Moderator Action Sticky 2015 thread. They choose not to respond.

Jim Herrman? Seriously?

But he had to fall on the sword for 2005 and never figured out how to defend the spread.

MSU has to travel to Nebraska. That's not a sure thing.
OSU getting Minnesota isn't all that much of a break either, although it is at home.

Power type rankings? It is Week 3. They lost on a hail mary to a team everyone considers a big test for us next week.
September 20th, 2015 at 3:33 PM ^
Nebraska's two losses are on a Hail Mary (to BYU) and in overtime (at Miami).
September 20th, 2015 at 3:40 PM ^
They were behind 33-10 yesterday. Only Miami being dumb and coached by a moron let them back in it.
September 20th, 2015 at 3:47 PM ^
Whatever the case, the fact is they lost in overtime, on the road, to a Power 5 team that is 3-0.
September 20th, 2015 at 4:09 PM ^
The fact is they're 1-2. It seems to me that his qualifier to your qualifier is fair.
September 20th, 2015 at 5:09 PM ^
The question is whether or not they are a good team. I don't think their 1-2 record can tell the whole story.
September 20th, 2015 at 6:25 PM ^
he doesn't think the final score of the Miami game tells the whole story, I happen to agree with him.
September 20th, 2015 at 8:18 PM ^
Going to Lincoln is no gimmie, but it also isn't a "tough" game on Sparty's schedule. It's three weeks after playing here, after a BYE week, and sandwiched between two cupcakes. The fear factor is a 5 at best. Sparty doesn't have OH's schedule, but it's probably down to UM to beat them before they play in Columbus.
September 20th, 2015 at 9:20 PM ^
Bye weeks are weird. They're not always necessarily a good thing. They can throw teams off their rhythm.
September 20th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
GOOD. The more comeptition the better. This is not a defining season so anything that makes us stronger going forward, I am in favor of.
September 20th, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
glad MSU doesn't get to skate by without playing OSU anymore. They always make fun or us for only beating OSU once in 10 years. Well, now you get to enjoy playing them every year, assholes.
September 20th, 2015 at 3:54 PM ^
i agree. Those bastards. Roughly as lucky as UofM not having to play Wisconsin for 5 years. Oh wait.....
