Lou Holtz on CFL - Quote

Submitted by tjyoung on
Lou Holtz makes sense for once. When talking about Texas and the reason why they've had success for the past few years (whether it's the coaching or the talent on the team AKA Vince Young/Colt McCoy) he said: "You can't win without good players, but you can lose with them. That's where coaching comes in." This can be perfectly applied to Michigan's situation the last 2 years. Once we get our players, that's where RR's coaching will come in. Let's do this thing.

How can a league have two teams named the Rough Riders? Oh, wait. The Saskatchewan team is the Roughriders. And by the way, how can you take any league seriously that has a team in Saskatchewan? Even the NHL isn't there.

I know this is going to make me sound like a jerk, but I couldn't help but read that quote and hear Holtz spitting and mushing his way through them in my head. But for once, I do have to agree with his analysis that good coaches take good talent and make it better; bad coaches take good talent and either waste it or simply do nothing with it.
