LSA jumped the gun again!
September 19th, 2015 at 3:06 PM ^
That was my bad this time - I did not catch the timeout.
We're all just lucky I didn't go with "Snowflakes Thread: Punt Porn" - I seriously considered that thread during the game.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:02 PM ^
It's not done yet!!!!!
In all seriousness, I like Ty Issac. I want to see more of him.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:02 PM ^
I like scoring more points than the other team. I want to see more of that.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:06 PM ^
I feel like Ty should get more carries...I like Smith (although not as much today), I think Isaac earned it.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:13 PM ^
...Isaac is more explosive. If Smith is our starter against Ohio State or Michigan State...he will be lucky to get 20 yards in either game.
September 19th, 2015 at 4:11 PM ^
if Rudock doesn't prove he can throw the ball downfield. Teams will load the box until he does. It is a growing concern because there is no improvement to date.
September 19th, 2015 at 8:25 PM ^
Yep exactly what I expect against MSU. They're going to bring those safeties up every play. Their game plan will be roll the dice with man coverage and minimal back safety support in order to have numbers in the box. They'll win by shutting down our running game coupled with applying crazy pressure on a QB who's proving to be just about as bad as we've had at managing the deep ball. If he can't figure out his deep accuracy we'll be lucky to score 13 against State.
The X factor will of course be Harbaugh hopefully Harbaughing a hot route counter-attack that can hopefully build us some respect early in that game, but the way our QBs are looking I'm not holding much hope.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:15 PM ^
i still think he is our most explosive runner with best vision and cutting ability. gotta keep him healthy.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:20 PM ^
Idk, I think Isaac showed better vision than Drake today.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:37 PM ^
I think Drake just wanted to get a few of his high hurdles in today, shaking the cobwebs off in the process.
September 19th, 2015 at 4:12 PM ^
it feels good having 4 fairly competent rbs to choose from. I'm hoping the team sees some improvements in the paint game on the longer throws. should really open things up

double post in the paint
September 19th, 2015 at 4:09 PM ^
A few plays in there showed Drake having really good vision but not enough patience. He hit a hole that none of our other guys would have, but he probably shouldn't have hit it because the layside hole was just opening up.
September 19th, 2015 at 11:19 PM ^
Yup, saw that too. He was go go go as soon as he got the ball while Smith and Isaac both are doing the stutter step thing, waiting for blocks to set up.
September 20th, 2015 at 12:39 AM ^
I was glad to see Isaac get more carries, but after he cleared the line-of-scrimmage on the touchdown run wide open, he seemed a bit lumbering and slow. The guys chasing are not 4* track stars but seemed to be gaining fast. Ty is huge..... Perhaps has put on too much bulk?
September 19th, 2015 at 3:02 PM ^
Will be better.......
Next year
Go Blue!
September 19th, 2015 at 7:49 PM ^
Right..the QB's that dont see the field are always supposedly better. You do realize that for next year you are putting a lot of faith in a transfer QB that lost his job at Houston last year.

Also the one that literally everyone close to the program says is the by far best QB on the roster. Yeah that one.
September 20th, 2015 at 4:18 AM ^
leaked out of the submarine that O'Korn is by far is the best QB on the team. He just cannot play this season but we'll have him for two seasons! Harbaugh will develop our younger QBs! I feel sorry for Morris that he did not get the same type of coaching when he first arrived!
September 19th, 2015 at 3:03 PM ^
Jake Rudock's performance was quite concerning
September 19th, 2015 at 3:05 PM ^
Every time I see him play he looks like a backup forced into being a starter. Sadly, he's the best on the roster right now.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:08 PM ^
I thought Wilton Speight looked good, his deep ball was much more accurate than Rudock.
I'd like to see a little more if what he's got, as I don't think we can score enough the way Rudock plays.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:11 PM ^
It's when they start that we see why they aren't starters.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:55 PM ^
I disagree with that logic, as that isn't always the case. Sometimes the back up is Tom Brady, or Aaron Rodgers or Tony Romo, or Steve Young, or Kurt Warner and you don't know who they are until you give them a shot at least.
September 19th, 2015 at 4:37 PM ^
Aaron Rogers was always going to be a starter at Greenbay, it was but a matter of time. The same is true of Steve Young. Interestingly, both Brady and Romo got shots because the same starting QB for their respective teams, Drew Bledsoe, became injured.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
I don't think the WRs are giving Rudock much help - fault goes all around there. Bottom line: if we can't complete a deep pass against UNLV, then we probably can't complete it against anyone unless something changes.
September 19th, 2015 at 8:44 PM ^
I don't know man. I was there and had a great view (Sec 4, Row 50) today. There were a number of plays where Butt, Chesson and Harris got significant separation when Rudock didn't look their way. WR/TE is definitely not the issue.
September 19th, 2015 at 9:35 PM ^
Agree. I wasn't at the game, but even on TV you could see some WR/TE separation. Also, on the plays they do make, the WRs and TEs look like legit players. Butt has had some excellent plays this year. Darboh has had nifty runs. Chesson has blazed like on his TD today.
But has Rudock had a single 'wow, that was great' play all year?
September 19th, 2015 at 7:21 PM ^
To be fair, I was in section 24 row 39. It was breezy where I sat and was down right windy when I left the stadium. I noticed the refs' pants flapping in the wind down on the field a couple of times. Rucock barely missed on a bunch of long passes today. If he makes two those, he's a hero instead of a goat. I'm rarely in a hurry to beat up on the QB until I hear from the coach that the receivers ran good routes.
September 20th, 2015 at 12:42 PM ^
He looked impressive standing in the pocket, but he turned into a puddle at the first sign of pressure on that 4th down.
September 21st, 2015 at 6:32 AM ^
His deep ball had the distance but but was not put in the right spot.
It should be thrown to the corner of the end zone not the inside where the db can make a play on it.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
Unfortunately, Rudock looks like the backup he would have been at Iowa this year had he stayed there.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:25 PM ^
Was also "quite concerning."
September 19th, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
And that took 4 years and a couple nuclear holocausts to fix.

I know the proprietor of this site has an affinity for Rudock and wants to cut him slack all the time and attribute errors as much as possible on other things, but he was just so obviously mediocre today, it becomes more and more ridiculous to keep suggesting he's going to be consistently good.
INT was bad, several other bad throws that against a good defense would result in at least one more INT, very inconsistent on his accuracy even on short throws (which I would have said was his strength), seems to have no idea where (or ability) to place long balls.
He's not terrible by any means, but he's really solidly mediocre.
September 19th, 2015 at 5:08 PM ^
would be over rating him. At his current pace, he is going to throw 20 interceptions this year. And we haven't even faced the better defenses yet.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:03 PM ^
Not good.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:03 PM ^
It was nice to see some explosive running out of the RBs today!
September 19th, 2015 at 3:03 PM ^
Rudock didn't look good. I fear the lack of a deep threat is going to haunt us this season.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:20 PM ^
If by downfield you mean further than 15 yards, I completely agree with you. However, I do wonder if there was a coaching purpose with running against 10 men stacked in the box. I trust Harbaugh so I think that was to prove a point.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:31 PM ^
but to us at the moment.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:03 PM ^
Will be ranked this week ???
September 19th, 2015 at 3:04 PM ^
Yes, #1 for sure after beating such a good team very convincing
September 19th, 2015 at 3:27 PM ^
Maybe will receive other votes if we beat BYU
September 19th, 2015 at 3:03 PM ^
Jake Rudock...I was expecting way more competency....just not good
September 19th, 2015 at 3:04 PM ^
Well Rudock has shown consistency this season, he's just consistently bad. He isn't a viable option going forward and I hope Harbaugh strongly considers putting Morris in. Otherwise this could be a 6-6 team with such awful QB play from Rudock.
September 19th, 2015 at 3:05 PM ^
Shane Morris in is career has shown no signs of being a quality option at quarterback
September 19th, 2015 at 3:08 PM ^
Haven't seen anything from Rudock either of being quality at QB.
