OT - Fantasy Football Start/Sit Em Thread
Finally football is back!
This thread serves the purpose of sharing fantasy advice for those tough decisions that we all face on a week-to-week basis of who to start and who we should sit.
This week is really tough for me; I had a great draft for every position other than RB.
My dilemma this week:
Need to start 2 of the 4 -
Melvin Gordon vs Det (Proj:9)
Tevin Coleman vs Phi (Proj:9)
Joseph Randle vs NYG (Proj:9)
Alfred Blue vs KC (Proj:9)
Help!
September 13th, 2015 at 9:05 AM ^
That's a lot of unknown but I'll say Melvin Gordon. This decision will be much easier next week.
September 13th, 2015 at 10:28 AM ^
If Detroit's run defense is anywhere near what it was last year, this week may not be the best indicator, either. Please, please be true.
September 13th, 2015 at 11:06 AM ^
I'm using Tevin Coleman @ Flex based on his big play ability and ATL's desire to control clock vs Philly. I go heavy on RB (I know, so Old Skool), so those others aren't on my roster. My RB are Eddy & DeMarco
September 13th, 2015 at 12:44 PM ^
Larry Fitzgerald or Stevie Johnson at my 3rd WR. I have Mike Evans but he is game time decision at 4pm.
Drafted Evans and Shady McCoy...Damn my luck for week 1.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:05 AM ^
Def need to go with Gordon as a lead back. Touches are points. Then I would go with Blue. He's solid and they will likely lean on the run game with that solid defense to grind out a win against a solid KC team. The other two are more volatile and committee like for me to depend on.

Coleman and Randle. NY and PHL have suspect D, IMHO.

Blue is going to have a tough time against the KC front seven, and Gordon is a complete wild card with a less favorable matchup.
September 13th, 2015 at 8:44 PM ^
Yup. Both blue and Gordon went for 4. We will see how Coleman and Randle do...

Actually - I believe Phil led league in Yd/Carry D last year? Using TC anyway as I think ATL will force feed him to keep ball away from Chip

Never mind:
The Dallas Morning News projects Joseph Randle to get a majority of carries, even if he doesn't get the start versus the Giants on Sunday night. Source: The Dallas Morning News

Makes me nervous to start Randle when he is such an unknown. I also hate starting Gordon or Blue because they face tough rush defenses this week

Anyone got word on mike Evans? I'd go Coleman and randle

I really would like news on both receivers, even if they both go, how much usage will they get too.
September 13th, 2015 at 10:28 AM ^
Im with you here. Any Chicago folk with any word or information on the usage Alshon may get? He definitely seems to be playing, but there were plenty of weeks Calvin Johnson played at way less than 100% and was essentially on the field as a decoy and got few looks.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:16 AM ^
make me nervous, but I would probably go with Gordon and Randle. When in doubt, I try and play the guy who plays on the team I think will be in the red zone the most times. Out of your four, I think that's Randle and Gordon.
September 13th, 2015 at 10:00 AM ^
Randle behind that good line and Gordon because Suh is gone and Levy isn't 100%. Lions might give up the yards on the ground.
September 13th, 2015 at 10:35 AM ^
plus they play with the two most competent QBs among the four options.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:27 AM ^
I'm struggling with Joe Randle or Isaiah Crowell at my flex spot (non-ppr). Seems like a question of quality vs. quantity, respectively.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:31 AM ^
I hate putting trust into Cleveland players. They have always let me down in fantasy

They've always let me down in real life
September 13th, 2015 at 9:28 AM ^
I'd go Randle and Coleman if for no other reason that they should be playing in high-scoring games.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:35 AM ^
have best production value for today at least.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:36 AM ^
Gordon is the #1 for sure in San Diego. Woodhead will steal some 3rd and long snaps due to his ability to catch the ball. But I'm not buying the Lions run D being as stellar as last year without Suh and Fairley. Plus Levy is out for a few games as well.
Randle will be the #1 guy for at least one game. And while they'll likely have a RB by committee approach, they have a good OL. So go with him.
Atlanta's OL is subpar, plus Coleman will be sharing carries with Devonta Freeman. And Alfred Blue is going up against a stout defense.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:38 AM ^
Freeman is hurt this week

I drafted Tevin Coleman and that news was enough for me to bench him.

Coleman/Gordon for me. Is it PPR, or standard scoring?
Here are my decisions (PPR league):
Gordon (vs. Det) or Alfred Morris (vs. Mia)
Carson Palmer (vs. NO) or Rivers (vs. Det)
September 13th, 2015 at 9:45 AM ^
Miami has a good defense, and Suh is in the middle of that D-line now. Washington's O-line is suspect at best. Remember how the Lions knocked out RGIII in the preseason? That wasn't RGII's fault. That O-line gave him Christian Hackenburg-like protection. Gordon is going up against the D-line that lost Suh, plus no Deandre Levy.
I would go with Carson Palmer just because he has better WRs and the NO secondary is not as good as Detroit's.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:46 AM ^
Standard scoring, I'd go with Morris and Palmer. Gordon is an unknown, and SD's offense shouldn't score a lot of points against DET

Blue over Gordon and it's not even close. Blue is the man in Houston. Houston's def will keep this game tight. With Hoyer at QB, the Texans will be running ALOT! The Chiefs def should be tough but D. Poe their run stuffing DT will be playing but could be slowed down or limited with a bad back.
I think Woodhead gets a majority of play against the Lions. They'll be fine against the run. But with Levy out, Woodhead will be used more than people up top think..
Blue 22 carries 90 yards 1 TD
Gordon 11 carries 40 yards
Coleman 12 carries 45 yards
Randle 12 carries 55 yards and a TD
Don't really think any of them will be a factor in re passing game. Go Blue for sure. The next one is a 3 sided coin flip. I'd go Randle probably.
September 13th, 2015 at 11:01 AM ^
The one thing about Blue is that he is just horrible. In the games Foster missed last year, Blue just looked downright bad.

PPR League here. I have one flex spot to fill and am torn between:
Chris Ivory
Allen Robinson
Devontae Adams
little help?
September 13th, 2015 at 9:55 AM ^
Adams for sure in PPR, otherwise coinflip between Adams and Ivory.
September 13th, 2015 at 9:56 AM ^
Devante Adams or Ivory, I'd probably go with Devante

Cobb is still a bit banged up and Adams was already the #2 receiver.
September 13th, 2015 at 11:00 AM ^
Davante Adams and it isn't close. The Bears are looking horrible this year and Aaron Rodgers is going to pour it on them.

but Robinson may pick up a bit more work with Lee out for the Jags

Matt Ryan or Russell Wilson - thinking Ryan though Wilson historically has played well against Rams away
Isaiah Crowell or T.J. Yeldon or Sneer Abdullah - thinking Yeldon
T.Y. Hilton or Jarvis Landry - thinking Hilton
September 13th, 2015 at 9:57 AM ^
Ryan for sure. He should light it up through the air this week. Abdullah and Hilton.

Rams defense has had Seattles number recently, it's why I'm starting Bradford over Wilson today.
September 13th, 2015 at 10:15 AM ^
I think Bradford will have a top 10 year.
September 13th, 2015 at 10:39 AM ^
Yeah, I didn't intend to draft Wilson, ran out of time because all my choices in that round were picked in the 4 spots before my pick so he got auto picked. Was happy to get Bradford in the 11th round and if he can stay healthy could be a top 5 QB. Though if Lockett is as good as he looked against Michigan 2 years ago and with Jimmy Graham, Wilson could put up very solid numbers this year. Just wish I had room on my bench for Lockett, I think he's going to blow up.
September 13th, 2015 at 11:58 AM ^
for $1 in an auction franhise league. I think he'll be the steal of the draft. Everyone else was like "who?". (no other mich fans in my league in Wisconsin) I drafted him solely off him torching Michigan and now there is a TON of buzz about him coming out of Seattle camp.
I'm starting Charles Johnson instead of him this week. I think that will be the right call, but i'm excited to see what Lockett turns into.
September 13th, 2015 at 12:44 PM ^
Took one of each to the house in preseason. I'm all aboard the Lockett train too... drafted him in both of my leagues.
