Its like preschool all over again.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:10 AM ^
You may dislike it, but like the white road uniforms, at least they're an actual thing from the past. Unlike the last few years' uniform debacles, both changes this year look great.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:39 AM ^
They're an actual throwback, but looking great is a totally subjective opinion. Call it growing up on Carr (could probably say Crisler too) or whatever, but I'll never think the helmet looks better with stickers than without.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:00 AM ^
I agree. Give them stickers for their lockers or something. The most iconic football helmet doesn't need any clutter on it.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:51 AM ^
is a tragic circumstance. . .
September 12th, 2015 at 11:07 AM ^
Only speaking for myself, but Charles Woodson and 1997 are a pretty great set of first concrete memories of football. Maybe others feel differently...
September 12th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^
They do feel differently. My first memories are of John Kolesar taking care of Ohio State and Alabama. I love the helmet stickers.
That's why it's so hard to define "tradition" with a 136-year-old entity. You think of 1997, but I think of the 80s, five straight conference titles, Jim Harbaugh, Mark Messner, Tripp Welbourne, Vada Murray, John Kolesar, Jon Vaughn, Tony Boles, Leroy Hoard, Desmond Howard and Tyrone Wheatley before I get to 1997. And others think of the 1960s. And others, the Ten-Year War.
September 12th, 2015 at 11:45 AM ^
No arguments about tradition from me, just about whether Carr memories are a tragic circumstance or not.
September 12th, 2015 at 11:52 AM ^
is not the requisite high to cancel out the lowest low of losing to Appalachian State.
September 12th, 2015 at 11:54 AM ^
Yes it is. You must not have been there.
That was an epic season.
September 12th, 2015 at 1:43 PM ^
Was the season that started out abyssmal but beat Tebow in the bowl game.
September 12th, 2015 at 3:09 PM ^
was a colossal failure.
You get out of Ann Arbor, everyone remembers App State. The 97 season isn't as vivid.
Someday there will be a movie about App State. There won't be a biopic on Lloyd Carr. Maybe on Lifetime.
September 13th, 2015 at 7:06 PM ^
and then lose their opener the next season. Espn pointed that out all opening weekend.
September 12th, 2015 at 4:28 PM ^
Only shared because the coaches gave Osbourn a gimme. Everyone who watches college football knows Nebraska lost to Missouri that year.
September 12th, 2015 at 6:51 PM ^
that we are the only top 10 team to ever lose to an FCS school.
September 13th, 2015 at 7:30 PM ^
If Harbaugh leaves Michigan with the same accomplishments as Carr, I will be very happy.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:36 AM ^
I don't dislike it. I think the fact that we're giving college-age kids stickers as a motivational tool/reward is kinda funny though. I do the same thing with my 2-year-old when he tells me or his mommy that he has to go potty. And it IS effective, so I'm all for it if Harbaugh thinks it will help.
September 12th, 2015 at 12:01 PM ^
You were upset your wife does not give you any stickers for good oerformance. Go Blue.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:31 AM ^
to the stickers and received a lot of them himself. If he thinks it helps fire up the players to receive them, I'm all for it.
Go Blue! Go Harbaugh!

Nice scoop, Seymour Hersh

I like it. I'm partial to the little block m idea, but that looks real nice

like these.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:44 AM ^
...not crazy about them for two reasons:
1. It runs counter to the theme of "The Team" and emphasizes the individual.
2. They are too large. If some players, as having been reported, already have up to 9 of these large stickers on their helmets after one game, they're going to have to overlap at some point. Maybe they do layer them, I don't know. A smaller design, say half the size, would have been a better look, IMHO.
I just don't know...
September 12th, 2015 at 9:54 AM ^
Not everything needs to be about the team. The TEAM should play together, hold each other accountable, play for the guy next to him, etc. The TEAM is greater than its individual parts. But that doesn't mean individual performance should go unnoticed. And who knows, a lot of these stickers could be team related. We don't know the criteria.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:01 AM ^
They are kinda big if that photo isn't distorted.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:28 AM ^
participation stickers should be given out with maybe a participation trophy at year end?
September 12th, 2015 at 10:51 AM ^
The whole "The Team" thing was said by the guy who brought the stickers to Ann Arbor. We all bitched about having someone on Bo's level again to right the ship. We get the guy who's body houses the soul of Bo and we are complaining.
To me it's simple:
Bo = Gospel.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:54 AM ^
There is no I in team, but there is an I in win. I stands for individual accountability to perform and do everything that it takes to win.
September 12th, 2015 at 2:40 PM ^
"There's a team criteria, a unit criteria and an individual criteria," Harbaugh said Monday. "Amara Darboh had the most stickers (after the Utah game)."

It emphasizes effort and dedication and sacrifice, without which you fail to achieve team goals and individual accolades alike.

Not a fan
I like the idea of helmet stickers, but these are ugly.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:15 AM ^
I'm in the same boat.
And, for the record, I'm cool with people liking them - it's a nice throwback to the past. But I never liked the cluttering of the helmet. JME.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:17 AM ^
I agree regarding cluttering the helmet. I like awarding the accomplishments with helmet stickers - it's something to work toward and show off success - but our helmet isn't as conducive to them as others.

They don't look like the same color as the helmet stripes. Somebody like Jake Butt is going to to have a two-tone helmet by the end of the year.
For the life of me, I can't understand why a big time program like Michigan can't ever get the colors to match. It looks so amateurish. Even my Jr. High School could do it.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:17 AM ^
I like them, but am okay with whatever Harbaugh wants.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:18 AM ^
They will look great from a distance, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:20 AM ^
them. But understand if you wouldn't like them, too. Nice throwback
September 12th, 2015 at 9:30 AM ^
The wolvwerine head is facing the other way from the OP's picture.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:12 AM ^
The wolverine faces left or right, depending on which side of the helmet it is to be placed on. They don't use the same sticker on both sides, or at least they didn't before.
September 12th, 2015 at 10:36 AM ^
Wow, we pay that much attention to detail . . . but we can't get the colors to match?
September 12th, 2015 at 10:55 AM ^
Can't argue with you there.
September 12th, 2015 at 9:46 AM ^
Look at those vicious teeth! Rrrarrrrrrr
September 12th, 2015 at 9:25 AM ^
I think they can look good at some places, but I was excited when Carr got rid of them and never cared to have them back.
The helmet is our signature and the most recognized piece of equipment in any sport. Now we are going to slap stickers all over them like preschoolers getting gold stars? No thanks...
At least our offensive linemen won't have cluttered helmets again this year....zing! (Just kidding, I hope they each get ten pancake blocks today...even if Utah State seemed to have success running the ball on Utah.)
September 12th, 2015 at 9:42 AM ^
We wanted Harbaugh, we got Harbaugh. And all the things that come with him.
Newsflash: We're not going to love everything he does. Harbaugh is a weird dude. If he was your neighbor, you wouldn't answer the door bell every time.
But the wins will be worth it . . .
