great news, hopefully. thanks Other Brian.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
Hopefully this means that he has already made his decision and may be announcing it soon, maybe during a certain football game this saturday in San Antonio. We need a playmaker at S and that is exactly what SP is.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:04 PM ^
Really? So it's pretty much Cal or Michigan. That would be amazing if Sean Parker and Marvin Robinson were are starting safeties.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:05 PM ^
Doesn't mean USC's out. He's been there numerous times. Just means they don't get one more chance to roll out the red carpet.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:26 PM ^
By red carpet I assume you mean by sitting in Pete Carrols office with Marcus Allen, and when Pete steps out of the room, Marcus takes you to his Heisman trophy with his arm around your shoulder and hands you a nice thick envelope full of dead presidents?
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:33 PM ^
I think getting an envelope full of dead people would turn me away from a school.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:42 PM ^
That dude had great hair
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:06 PM ^
amazing if you were talking about 2011 or 2012. i dont know if i like the idea of 2 true frosh starting safeties next year, no matter how talented.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:09 PM ^
i'd take those two over our current options!
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:38 PM ^
and Tweedledee.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:14 PM ^
I tend to agree but just think how amazing the secondary could be if every one lives up to the hype in 2011. CB's - Christian and Turner, Safeties - Robinson, Parker. And who's to say kids like Emilien, Witty, Talbott, Avery, Johnson, Vinopal, etc don't show to be great players too.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:16 PM ^
I fully expect Carvin and Witty to be quality starters at some point in their careers.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
when his high school coach says that he's seen witty beat robinson at a race it makes me excited to see what he can become. plus unlike robinson (sorry robinson for qb fans) he is a man with a set position for the present and future.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:08 PM ^
Hey Sean, if you happen to read this I'd just like to let you know, winged helmets are great.
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
...itself! :P
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:27 PM ^
to go there already? I would think you'd still want all the treatment even if you are a silent to USC.
This tells me he's Blue - huge get for RRod!
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:31 PM ^
Just logged on the computer saw that we beat O state in basketball and hopefully this is good news for us in landing a very talented football player.
.............Liking 2010 so far
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:47 PM ^
Should've turned on the TV and watched it.
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
.....I was at work
January 3rd, 2010 at 6:46 PM ^
Well this is sure great news, while it doesn't mean anything really in terms of his choice it makes me believe that his odds of going blue are greater now
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
As long as recruits are still talking to King Beaver, Sam Webb and Co, it's a good thing.
It's when they tune out all their Michigan contacts that things usually mean the other cheatin' schools that cheat all the time by cheating have cheated Pristine Michigan out of yet another recruit by cheating.
But seriously--Nick Perry comes to mind, so does Rojo: when they stop talking to Michigan guys--it be over.
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:39 PM ^
When you look at the height / weight / speed / videos of Sean and Ray Vinopal, they look very comparable. Obviously Sean is the higher ranked player by the recruiting services.
Why were people flipping out so bad when Ray signed but are giddy about Sean? They both appear to be excellent players on film.
PS - Our secondary is shaping up nicely for the future.
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:32 PM ^
My understanding is that Ray's listed height/weight are inaccurate. Allegedly Parker weighs ~15-20lbs more than Ray, and is ~2" taller. In addition, I don't think Ray really did the horse and pony camp circuit, which does wonders for exposure...and, depending on how you performed, your rankings.
January 4th, 2010 at 8:27 AM ^
If you're first team all-state for Cardinal Mooney, exposure is not going to hold you back.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:25 AM ^
"Never;" just a small tidbit not sure why it bothers me, but use "dog and pony show," in the future not "horse and pony camp."
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:57 PM ^
Vinopal's ceiling is lower than Parker's. Vinopal is smaller, and he doesn't have the same fluidity of movement as Parker.
Parker has the potential to play in the NFL.
Vinopal has the potential to be Jordan Kovacs with a little bit of speed.
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:09 PM ^
If that means having enough skills, determination, and ability to beat out a scholarship player for a spot in the starting rotation I'll gladly cheer for him and ten others on the starting D.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:01 AM ^
You can go ahead and cheer for that by yourself. Just because bad beat out worst doesn't mean you going to get good results.
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:10 PM ^
yup.... Magnus is right
why would we use a scholly on Vinopal when we need it for a MLB?
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:42 PM ^
i said this because Vinopal will be behind Marvin Robinson (Fr), Jordan Kovacs (RSo) and Vlad Emilien (So) after stepping on campus.
on the other hand Michigan only has 1 true MLB on the entire roster in Kenny Demens.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
What about Obi Ezeh and J.B. Fitzgerald?
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:09 PM ^
ah, youre right on JB Fitzgerald, at least thats the position he was recruited for.
a lot of guys ive spoken to think Ezeh is playing out of position. whether he's best suited for OLB in the 4-3 or MLB in our system, im not too sure. it still doesnt change the fact that we have him for only 1 more season and that talent and depth at ILB/MLB is really lacking.
i like but do not love Vinopal's commit. if i had to choose any commit to switch w/ a MLB, id probably pick one of the 6 WR's.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:15 PM ^
according to both Scout and Rivals these two guys are virtually identical in size. If anything, Parker might be a bit shorter, a bit heavier, and a bit slower in the 40 yard dash. So I suppose Parker must be rated higher because he just makes more plays on the field. Fair enough. We'll all find out at some point who the better player is. I won't pretend to know the answer right now based on the current information.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:23 PM ^
If Parker is shorter, Magnus will give you $40
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
Just take a look at their very different offer lists, that should tell you why they're not viewed so equal as prospects
January 4th, 2010 at 8:16 AM ^
A player's size and high school production aren't the only factors in projecting how good he'll be at the next level. This is why you're not a coach.
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:59 PM ^
You really don't like Ray, do you?
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:40 PM ^
What a great start to 2010. First the basketball win and now this. Plus the red wings rolled and the lions lost to hopefully maintain that they draft suh.
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:05 PM ^
They're not going to be able to draft him because St L will take him. He's worth 2 other players in the first round.
January 3rd, 2010 at 11:11 PM ^
Your right they very well could draft him but I'm not sold on the fact that they would.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:33 AM ^
Lions are gonna take a WR.
"With the 2nd pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. The Detroit Lions pick...Dez Bryant"
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
According to rivals he's still waiting until signing day, and Parker doesn't seem to have a real favorite.. so this is definitely one to watch.
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:11 PM ^
That was about as bare bones an article as there could possibly be. It was a generic checkin article by one of their national writers doing interviews with kids as they arrive in San Antonio.
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:31 PM ^
if your name were "no, not that brian"
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
i think we will see woolfolk and kovacs start against connecticut especially if we are talking experience.
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
I can't speak for anybody else, but this guy loves red carpet...
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
for him to announce he will be committing to Rich Rodriguez's University of Michigan
January 3rd, 2010 at 10:43 PM ^
I wish coaches would stop taking new jobs. It's really making all of my collegiate attire irrelevant.
January 3rd, 2010 at 9:22 PM ^
This bodes well. Parker would be a huge get for the program.
