Logan Tuley-Tillman Dismissed From Team
According to a very brief release from the athletic department, redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Logan Tuley-Tillman is no longer a member of the football program.
Statement from Jim Harbaugh, J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach:“Logan Tuley-Tillman has been dismissed from the football team for conduct unacceptable for a Michigan student athlete."
Tuley-Tillman saw some action as a sixth lineman in the Utah game, so something must have transpired since then. His departure means Michigan's depth on the line is worrisome both this year and moving forward. Unless a guard slides out to tackle, the only backup tackles are now freshmen: redshirt freshman Juwann Bushell-Beatty and true freshmen Grant Newsome and Nolan Ulizio. Graham Glasgow and Ben Braden could each move to right tackle, allowing David Dawson or Patrick Kugler (when he's healthy) to slide into the lineup if need be. Michigan can stand pat for now, but if there's an injury on the line things get dicey in a hurry.
Expect Michigan to make a big push for another tackle in the 2016 class. Meanwhile, the heralded 2013 O-line haul is looking like a disaster. Kugler and Dawson still have plenty of time to contribute, but Chris Fox's career is over due to medical issues, Kyle Bosch transferred to West Virginia, Dan Samuelsen couldn't crack the two-deep and transferred, and now Tuley-Tillman is off the team.

That is some terrible revisionist history. Samuelson was a flyer once others had committed elsewhere.

The fact we didn't offer doesn't mean we were guaranteed a signing if we had. Two of those three schools have been higher profile programs than Michigan for the last decade or so, and the third isn't exactly Purdue.

Super disappointing. I always liked LTT. He was hardcore Michigan.
He must have done something bad to not receive a warning.

please give a first hand example of why you liked him and how you knew he was hardcore Michigan.

I've got some baseless speculation here-
I'm gonna say it's because we can't have nice things.

Detroit free press article of it. Not going to repeat but you can google probably
September 10th, 2015 at 3:23 PM ^
And rightfully so, but what I thought I know about LTT led me to root for him as hard as any kid on the team. Hope things work out for him.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
I try to stop thinking of them as kids once they enter the program. Because they aren't. It slips into my lexicon from time to time as well, but the reality is this is his third year here. It isn't kids' play anymore for LTT or anyone else on the team.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:40 PM ^
... similar to Harbaugh's perspective. People live up or down to expectations you set for them. Calling them kids gives them freedom to act like children. These are young men, and as young men, they have to begin acting like it. It's a learning process... it's not always easy. Hope it works out for him.

Sucks for him. More importantly, is this going to delay offense UFR?
September 10th, 2015 at 3:28 PM ^
We know it was more serious than forgetting his socks. Let's start there and work forward.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:29 PM ^
He fucked up bad to get immediately booted off the team and not just suspended for a couple games. If it were something illegal we'd hear about it by now right?
September 11th, 2015 at 7:36 AM ^
he did something real fucked up? Harbaugh dismissed him for conduct unbecoming, what more do you need? It may or may not have been something technically criminal in nature; sometimes that sort of conduct is noticed by coaches, but not reported to police, depending on the nature of the offense. At last check, LTT was not on any Ann Arbor criminal blotter. At any rate, this sucks of OL depth. Fight on men, and Go Blue
September 10th, 2015 at 3:29 PM ^
I always thought this guy would be a big help for the OL due to his size and ratings, but this ends those thoughts.
Hope all works out for the kid.
Speculation at this time does no good for anyone.

I'm hoping that he got caught cheating on a test and it wasn't something illegal

Not many tests to cheat on this early in the semester....

I have no idea the cause behind this action.
But it's starting to look like Harbaugh is willing to endure some pain this year to form a better team next and beyond. If sacrificing some OL depth was necessary, then so be it.
September 10th, 2015 at 3:37 PM ^
Can we sacrifice long snapper depth instead?
September 10th, 2015 at 3:57 PM ^
I'm sure if the long snapper did whatever LTT did, then the answer is yes.
But I think your point is that the LS is a scholarship slot better given a "real" player.
Ditto Andrew David, a scholarship kicker third on the depth chart.
Again, I don't know what LTT did. But it's clear Harbaugh isn't putting up with it ... whatever "it" is.

Didn't Bo used to kick guys off the team so they could appreciate how special it is and then allow them back on after certain criteria were met?

But it was a one-day thing and didn't involve a press release about unacceptable conduct.

It never ceases to amaze me how many college football players do something really stupid and lose the chance to play D1 football and a free education. He had to really screw up to not just get a suspension.

The difference is you're not likely surrounded by a bunch of highly compensated adults every day who beat it into your skull on a regular basis that you're in a fishbowl 24/7 and should do whatever it takes to avoid said dumb shit.

This is so weird. The night following our season opener against Utah I went to the Greenwood block party and was talking with LTT. He introduced himself and I told him "I saw you playing yesterday, good to see you out there". He said to me "yea man, it's been TOOO long" kind of exasperatedly.
We didn't talk much longer but that bit stuck with me. This is so weird to see him getting abruptly kicked off after he just started getting some time.
