Very pregnant wife going to Oregon State game with me, any special accommodations at the Big House?
Any other Mgodads have had experiences at a game with a pregnant wife and if any special accommodations were made? I figured I'd just chat with the usher when we got to our section, but would be great to know if there any special services she might be privy to. Thanks.

There is a small emergency room at the stadium. Residents of the Michigan ER department staff all football games just in case. Don't know what else you're looking for but at least if something medically is an issue you should be covered

One of my sons is one of the ER residents, although he hasn't learned how to deliver babies yet, but he claims to be good with concussions.
Relax...she will be fine,

I'm not a doctor, so I can't vouch for how medically sound this would be, but it would be amazing to have your kid born at the Big House during a game.

First thing that comes to mind: Don't throw her into the air after a touchdown. Even if all the cool kids are doing it.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:31 PM ^
Tell her not to drink too much. Also sit in the shade if possible.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:16 PM ^
It will get hot and if she doesn't get enough fluid in her system, she will cramp up and be miserable. She may not feel it at the game, but by that evening, she'll feel it. Me and my wife have gone through for of these pregnancies and each doctor has advocated for staying hydrated.
Yeah it sucks with all the frequent bathroom stops, but that's the price you'll have to pay to keep her and the baby comfortable.

Only advice I have is to say hang on to that trooper! My wife was great during late pregnancy but if I had suggested a football game, I think she would've gone Lorena Bobbitt on me.

leave her at home lol

Your wife is a baller.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:34 PM ^
Granted I love your bringing a designated driver style, but having gone through the "very pregnant wife" thing a few years back, wouldn't it be better just to let the young lady chill at home and relax while you take the game in with a buddy whom when after your child arrives you won't see for a very very very long time?
Just a suggestion.
Though don't tell the wife I brought it up. I don't need that 3rd trimester insanity on me. Also don't mention I said "insanity."

Take a buddy and rely on the great cell towers our friend David Brandon installed in case you need to bail on the game

Your experience with a pregnant wife was a bit touch n go for the last three months where everything was your fault, I'm guessing...
...and touching was right out.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:01 PM ^
Still better than the first trimester of pure insanity. Hormones are off the charts. Month 4-6 are THE BEST. Months 7-9 you're ready to hump the leg of just about every other woman aged 18-65.

It wasn't the hormones for my wife as much as it was the nausea. Naw strike that. It was the hormones and the nausea. After month 4, my wife wanted to get some more than before she was pregnant. I guess the dad ought to get something out of this.

At least once the baby comes out you can have your life back. Eventually. Maybe.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:53 PM ^
And wants to go.. Dare I try and curb that desire!!
September 1st, 2015 at 10:11 PM ^
At 38 weeks. Thought I was tough, walked up from row 7, caught by the usher at the top. He still laughs when I walk in with my 14 year old now. She'll be fine. Just go with her if she wants to walk up from row 7. Go blue. Beat Oregon State.

That's the great part of having those old timers as ushers. Cool story.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:20 PM ^
Though I'm not taking her, she would welcome a long walk like that to tell that little boy to get moving. She is ready for birth day.

I think I just got a Mom-crush.
September 1st, 2015 at 11:42 PM ^
sure, great advice. I guess his pregnant wife who wants to go to the game can just sit at home alone while he goes out and parties it up with the boys instead. great plan!

I agree with this, is she even going to be remotely comfortable sitting on an aluminum bench or standing? For hours? Her back is going to hurt.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:35 PM ^
How many weeks?
September 1st, 2015 at 9:56 PM ^
So we're still about 2 months out or so, just want her to be as comfortable as possible and if they have any extra amenities available just want to be "fully aware"!
September 1st, 2015 at 9:40 PM ^
You are a brave man. My wife was a trooper. I took her to a Red Wings game when she was like two months from due date. It was ok, but I wished later I shouldn't have done that. I also took her to see SAW. That was stupid.
Did I say you are brave? Good luck and congrats.

There is a thin line between brave and insane.

We were in the same situation last season. Go to the crisler ticket booth a couple hours before the game, hand them your normal tickets, they will hand you tickets in ADA seating in your same section. So for us, this meant sitting in a folding chair at the top of section 20 with all the space in the world, and easy access to bathrooms.

Just wait until you witness your first transvaginal ultrasound.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:58 PM ^
Perhaps Ghost Of Hoke will change his mind when he personally witnesses two C-sections, which is how both of my kids arrived. I am always open to describing the experience for people who would like a summary or play-by-play.
To Ghost Of Hoke, don't be that person - that's how some people around here end up with "Ghost Of" as part of their name.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:07 PM ^
Two kids, two c-sections. It's incredible how desensitizing having children can be.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:05 PM ^
Just wait until you've seen your first level four tear (from vagina to rectum) as your wife gives the miracle of birth by literally pooping a child through your sacred place.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:07 PM ^
Everything was kept perfectly intact.
September 1st, 2015 at 10:28 PM ^
We did that the second time. Wife didn't like the recovery time, of all things. We're trying again natural in a couple weeks. Pray for me brother!
September 2nd, 2015 at 2:51 AM ^
to the epidural gods!
September 2nd, 2015 at 9:25 AM ^
I took a few weeks off of work to take care of the baby so my wife could heal from the c-section, but the recovery was a bitch. He was a 10 pounder though, so natural wasn't really an option.

Ghost of Hoke might literally be vomiting this very moment.

Having sex with my very pregnant wife was actually pretty hot. In a science experiment sort of way.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:45 PM ^
We were in same situation last season / daughter was born Dec 24 and we went to the games until November. My wife never had a problem and on the rare occasion we scored our daughter definitely kicked when the band played The Victors.

this will get your son/daughter to arrive on game day, or maybe game night.
trust me, i know what i'm talking about. ever been snow-shoeing with an 8.99 month preggers wife? dashes on the beach (different child, great quote that day, 'mama can move the mail!) i have. great fun, seriously. kudos to your bride for the great attitude. suggest you sit as close to the aisle and the exit as you can, swap tickets with others if you have to. i love that crisler/ADA suggestion above.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:49 PM ^
My wife was pregnant during the 2009 season. I got the "all in" ticket pack where you got tickets to every game but always in different seats. When I checked out there was a section with "special requests." I noted that my wife was pregnant and I would appreciate aisle seats. I ended up with aisle seats at every single game. I really appreciated that they accommodated us.
Basically what I'm saying is, the best thing you can do is call the department and ask.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:51 PM ^
There was an eight-months pregnant woman in our row at the Nebraska game in 2011. She did fairly well, remaining calm and patient while people edged by her to head up the aisle and avoided flying arms after scores... The dude was a nervous wreck, constantly stopping and/or trying to redirect people, though most were conscious of the situation.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:53 PM ^
When the kid pops out at halftime, make sure you name him (or her) Harbaugh.
September 1st, 2015 at 9:54 PM ^
Best accommodation: she shouldn't go. That has to be miserable for her!
September 1st, 2015 at 10:05 PM ^
I know right? There'll be more Michigan football games
