Game Thread - College Football Begins Today: NDSU vs Montana

Submitted by HelloHeisman91 on

The game kicks at 3:30 on ESPN.  The Bison have won 4 consecutive FCS championships and return their senior QB Carson Wentz.  And the most intersting part of this game is the debut of Bob Stitt, #stitthappens, on the Montana sideline.  Power 5 coaches have been picking Stitt's brain for years on how to gain an edge offensively and this was addressed in a recent ESPN article that was linked to yesterday on the board.

The older I get(47 in Sept), the faster the years fly. Except when it comes to off season. As a kid, I wanted summers to last. Now, I wish they would just cancel summer each year.

OK maybe that is extreme, but you get the gist. Finally a game that counts. Thanks again.

Same in CA.  Many weeks in the summer it's a little too hot (though we don't have humidity like you do) but the rest of the year is beautiful.  The only thing summer is good for is going to the beach, which is a little too cold by the water the rest of the year.  But with young kids, that only happens a handful of times a summer anyway.

Should be a nice warmup, before a full day of football next Saturday. Not sure I'm in game shape just yet, so a half day is perfect.

I'll be at the game. 2nd row 45 yard line. 25k people in the stadium and another 20k outside. It will be wild. Griz games are some of the best in the nation for atmosphere.

I am a UofM grad. Yes University of Montana and that stadium is amazing.  Too bad the forest fires have filled Missoula with smoke.  Won't make it to Missoula but proud to say I'll be in Utah next Thursday.  Either way go UofM!!!!!!!x2

Anyone else hoping the Illinois AD is watching this game?  It sure would be fun having Stitt in our conference.  Might actually make the B1G West interesting.

Was just in Missoula. Beautiful campus and very nice stadium. It may be FCS, but it will be an awesome environment. Two strong programs.

Hope the smoke has subsided, Montana has really been blanketed from the Wash and Idaho forest fires.

Go Griz!

Has he had a stroke?

He's been rough the past few years, but he was AWFUL in this taped College Gameday. He's slurring, he repeats himself, it's just bad.

I know ESPN has to pimp its television personalities, but please take Corso off. Bring him in for the last 15 minutes to make his picks and put a mascot head on...other than that, he just can't keep up.

Sad but true. I hate agreeing with this, because Corso in his prime was awesome. The guy made Gameday and all his segments a blast. But he's been in steady decline since the stroke--you could see the effect right afterward in the loss of the manic energy. "Not so fast" started coming oh so slow. Now he can barely put together coherent sentences. At the end, when Herbstreit was jabbing his arm, I was thinking, "Hey, stop that--you're hurting him." He seems too frail. I love his spirit, but it is sad to watch now.

Montana is one of the FCS teams I typically root for during playoff time (like the colors and mascot. Yeah, I know) so I hope they win. But man does NDSU look good again.

I forgot about Stitt being there and not liking to punt. They didn't convert on the first one but the defense forced a 3 and out afterward so it didn't really hurt them.
