Clay's a cool guy and is really stepping up the Deadspin CFB coverage.

I'm not a big fan of Deadspin. Thought Leitch was okay, dislike Dauliero and the KSK guys, -- the Realests said it best when they dubbed 'em "savages" -- hate the commenters.
But Clay's always been a smart, funny writer. His Sportsline column was quite good, and his initial posts on Deadspin are promising. Also he asked me to be in a quiz bowl.
I don't understand the big love fest over Deadspin since they don't make me laugh that much, particularly since they do such a good job brushing over a lot of significant issues in sports. They're kind of like a sports oriented /b/.
Leitch seemed to play up the innocence and "it's just a blog" aspect of Deadspin despite the fact that he pretty constantly fawned over the retardation of his commenters.
Yeah, it was really grating during the Bissinger thing when he tried to disavow responsibility for that stuff when you have to be specifically approved to comment on Deadspin. In what way is that not your doing?
I see that. It's been about 90% CFB from Clay so far. He's hearing it in the comments a bit, but it's good stuff. Plus, can't complain about two UM posts today.
I find it hilarious they make you "audition" to be a commenter when every post is just a dick wagging race to get in the first verbatim quote from the fratacular pop culture fad of the month.

Gawker's whole concept of approving commentators has always been troubling. And I agree, Brian, that Leitch's disavowing of his commentators during the Bissingkrieg was disingenuous because of Gawker's comment policies. All I can imagine is a bunch of people sitting at their computers writing down snark they may be able to use at later times. It's like a bunch New Yorker rejects who fancy themselves over the TMZ crowd.
At least here Brian can shed most responsibility for our knuckle dragging, phallic humor.
