O.T: Cris Carter advises rookies to get a "fall guy" for crimes they commit.
August 23rd, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
Sorry for the format. Obviously too dumb to know how to do that as well. Lol
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:00 PM ^
Thank you, sir!
August 23rd, 2015 at 7:36 PM ^
Um, he's right. How many of us gave seen an arrest for drugs or guns of athletes and thought, "he has a posse, why is he dumb enough to have the weed on him?" If you make over $500,000 per year, you can afford to have a flunky carry your drugs/drive your ass when you are drunk/hold your gun. This is common sense people. You can even get your wife to do some of these things.

All politicians and CEOs, Etc is guilty of this.
Carter is just being real
August 23rd, 2015 at 9:22 PM ^
Wow that's sickening. I wish Borland had walked out. What a stupid thing to say. It was just cris carter showing his stupidity while trying to look cool in front of rookies.
August 24th, 2015 at 7:59 AM ^
The NFL must be so proud that he's giving that "advice" while wearing his HOF jacket.
August 24th, 2015 at 12:39 PM ^
This video was up on NFL.com.
August 23rd, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
Yeeeeep. I probably should've looked it over before posting lol I don't think I will survive this.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:52 PM ^
I'm downvoting all grammar police comments, except the first one. Yes, there is correct grammar and incorrect grammar. We know which is which, because we are SO SMART. Seriously though, how many poor dead horses have we beaten here over the years for such trivial stuff?
August 23rd, 2015 at 6:32 PM ^
I believe "downvoting" should be hyphenated.
August 23rd, 2015 at 6:43 PM ^
This made me laugh, so +1, you've earned it
August 23rd, 2015 at 7:06 PM ^
when your horse dies.
After all, we all need something to beat from time-to-time.
August 24th, 2015 at 8:47 AM ^
And yet the same mistakes keep getting repeated. Clearly the message isn't getting out or folks aren't just paying attention. Your down-vote on sight policy is not productive if you want to be part of the solution. You do, don't you?
August 24th, 2015 at 10:22 AM ^
No, because it's the fucking internet where you have services like Twitter where short-hand/lack of punctuation is celebrated. Face it, the majority of the internet is not looking to be published in the Harvard Law Review.

You know what they say... "O-H... Shit I'm out of a job and just admitted that I have broken the law a few times."
August 23rd, 2015 at 4:57 PM ^
big mistake buddy
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:03 PM ^
Ray Lewis knew all about that trick.

Chris Carter is a huge asshole.
August 23rd, 2015 at 8:04 PM ^
splurp him after comments like these because CC is simply awesome, I know mini Mike says that pretty often on that stupid show. Maybe CC is back on the wagon and just giving some advice that he just follows nowadays.
August 23rd, 2015 at 10:07 PM ^
The way "mini-Mike" kisses Cris Carter's ass everytime Carter is on ----- totally obnoxious.
I have ESPN2 on every morning while I'm getting ready because they DO have SOME good stuff, but man is there also a lot of idiocy on that show. Mainly from CC and Mini-Mike.

Per NBC Sports, these were remarks made at the Rookie Symposium for the NFL and indeed Carter has apparently already been invited to speak next year, so everyone can just sit back and wait for some further deep musings from Cris Carter, right?
Among some of the money quotes:
“If you all got a crew, you got to have a fall guy in the crew,” Carter said. “If you all have a crew, one of those fools got to know, he’s the one going to jail. We’ll get him out.”
Supposedly, the video of the entire speech is at NFL.com, so the league may very well see it as practical advice.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:39 PM ^
He should have had a fall guy to say they liked to keep the balls at 12.5 pounds, which is the lowest legal limit.
August 23rd, 2015 at 7:55 PM ^
“This was an unfortunate and inappropriate comment made by Cris Carter during the 2014 NFC rookie symposium,” the NFL’s statement said. “The comment was not representative of the message of the symposium or any other league program. The league’s player engagement staff immediately expressed concern about the comment to Cris. The comment was not repeated in the 2014 AFC session or this year’s symposium.”
Of course, as has been mentioned, it was on their website. I'm sure Judge Berman will appreciate this information as he's making his ruling on the Brady case.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:12 PM ^
I really find myself disagreeing with most things that come out of that man's mouth. As if these are the true lessons we need to be teaching these young, uneducated players.
August 23rd, 2015 at 9:08 PM ^
How his kid turned out so well sure is a mystery.
August 23rd, 2015 at 8:02 PM ^
After watching this I just can't understand why so many of these guys end up broke and wondering what happened? This speech was at an NFL event meant to provide guidance and wisdom for young players. Great lesson, NFL. The fact that a Buckeye delivered that message is priceless. I now understand why they still think Jim Tressel is a misunderstood god.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:13 PM ^
You just "seen" that huh?
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:18 PM ^
Somebody obviously edited the post to make me look like an idiot. Lol
August 23rd, 2015 at 7:58 PM ^
College football > NFL
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:17 PM ^
Wow I guess I don't understand why this is on the NFL website.. Just another reason why the NFL is a joke
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:23 PM ^
This has to be some sort of comedy skit as if this is sanctioned by the NFL, then this is nothing short unbelievable. So the NFL does not believe in accountability and expects their players to stay out of jail by not not doing the crime, but rather have someone else take the heat for it. And of course they are in court talking about Tom's balls! Fuck Roger Goddell.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:23 PM ^
Is he back on that blow?
August 23rd, 2015 at 9:36 PM ^
Not only is he back on the blow but he has his fall guy already in place.
Cris is an interesting cat.

I'm constantly amazed at how Disney is able to distance itself from the garbage that is the NFL/ESPN partnership.
Imagine if NBC News ran a story that said "Disney employee advises at-risk young men to lie about criminal acts, not avoid them."
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:27 PM ^
The guys running Disney aren't saints. They hired a convicted pedophile to direct a movie about a magical boy to make money.

Wow. Had never heard of that story.
August 23rd, 2015 at 9:48 PM ^
I hope Doctor's Associates doesn't make the same mistake with their main pitch guy.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:27 PM ^
Carter isn't an idiot, but he, and the NFL, do say some stupid things and take stupid positions. That said, it is enlightening to learn that the NFL didn't so much have a problem with explotits of Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice, et al, as much as they had a problem with them not having a proper fall guy.
As for Carter, last week on Mike and Mike he stated that the NFL doesn't need fans to be successful, that the Super Bowl would still be played and be as successful without the fans. That certainly left me scratching my head.
August 23rd, 2015 at 7:48 PM ^
That's one of the most insanely stupid things I've ever heard. If Carter thinks that advertisers are going to pony up at those rates for games with no fans in the stands, he's a fucking idiot. And without those advertisers, the whole financial structure of the NFL falls apart. Good luck finding the money to pay those ridiculous contracts.
If Carter's attitude about fans and personal accountability is widespread among the players, then the NFL is doomed in the long run.
August 23rd, 2015 at 9:48 PM ^
Actually, I think this statement just reinforces the fact that Cris Carter is indeed an idiot.
August 23rd, 2015 at 5:30 PM ^
like a weather forecaster. He does his job completely wrong but is still employed. I know the owners like the money he has made them; but the tipping point to fire him was about a year ago and he's still there.
August 24th, 2015 at 6:11 AM ^
At least they are knowledgable about meteorology and are trying to get the right forecast. Goodell doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, and he is constantly trying to cover it up by making shit up as he goes along.
