there is nothing wrong with this... in the first 4 lines they say that he is making the most of his SECOND CHANCE!!! did the kid seriously F up last year??? yes. i'm not saying that everything has been forgiven for what he did, but at least he didn't blow his second chance like winston did.

Tropp himself says he F'ed up. But rather than go to juniors or leave school and turn pro (like Conboy did), he stuck it out and now leads the nation in scoring. Good for him. Unlike Conboy, Tropp was never a dirty player before the Kampfer incident and hasn't been a dirty player since then. Hopefully he continues to stay that way and continues to make the most of his second chance. As long as he doesn't own a ski mask, he should be okay.

Besides, you make it sound as if Michigan has never played a player who has done something as bad, if not worse, than what Tropp did (ahem..Chris Fox...).

I never even mentioned anything about any UM players. My disgust is with the article itself propping up this guy. Great, great second chance, blah, blah...after what he did he shouldn't be given any damn publicity what-so-ever.

After what Fox did, did he deserve to have a positive Michigan Daily article after the season was over? Should we condemn Fox Sports Detroit for airing a segment on Dr. Fox helping save coach Berenson's son's life a few years ago, too? Talk about second chance, propping up, blah blah... that story had no business airing, huh?

Perhaps you should go wander over to the "Bertuzzi is ON FIRE" thread, too.

He leads the nation in goals and scoring. It would be kind of strange if sportswriters covering college hockey were to ignore him. At least they're acknowledging what happened last year and not sweeping it under the rug. Not sure what your complaint is.

I can't speak for the OP, but if this was a UM player, the coverage wouldn't be nearly as positive, either for the player or the school. I think that the many posters here who detest the media trying to prop up MSU while simultaneously trying to tear down UM have a valid point.

I'm still waiting for an in-depth, tell-all, "expose" of MSU football in the style of the UM hatchet job that was done for "transgressions" that didn't exist. Maybe Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy will do it.

I don't know, tater, how many negative articles did you see about Kevin Grady's second, and third chances? People gave him a break.

Tropp fucked up and did a bad thing. It shouldn't continue to shape our perception of him for the rest of his life, even if he wears green and white.
