Peppers: Ranked #69 by ESPN
Some pretty solid preseason recognition for a guy who hasn't really played yet. Is there anyone else on the team that might come in higher?
No. 69 is a perfect position. /s
Had to do it sorry.
But figured I'd keep the original post clean so all of your brilliant minds could go nuts.
Agreed
on what you mean?
....but it should roll right off of your tongue.
Right in front of my eyes.
....The things that come out of MGoblogger's mouths!

Jake Rudock? {folds hands in prayer}
No returning players were named even All Conference "honorable mention" last year. Butt seems like the only possibility to make this ESPN list.
But the important lists are the ones in December -- All Conference and All American. I think Butt, G.Glasgow, Lewis, Morgan and Bolden have a shot for All Conference. It's also plausible that one of the 5th year transfers might make it there.
Is 1-68 everyone on OSU's team?

NICE

I could see either M. Cole or Bolden being on the list. Joe in particular. He had 100+ tackles and 2 sacks in 2014 and is basically going into his third season as a starter.
...unless TE's just can't aspire to such heights.
to answer op, no. He's our best talent by far. Maybe...MAYBE they'll put Butt in there but I think we're done after Peppers.
Some possibilities: Glasgow? Butt? Henry? Cole?
I'm reaching a bit, I know.
Seems pretty silly to rank him as one of the top 100 players in the country when he's only recorded 8 tackles and a punt return of 6 yards. I hope he earns it, but right now this ranking is a gift.
This type of logic is so flawed.
rather than a rank of past performance
But yeah, 69!

The year before Jameis won the Heisman? Redshirt. Johnny Football? Redshirt. Adrian Peterson? Ran for 1925 yards his freshman season and was an All-American. Michael Crabtree won the Biletnikoff award. There is a huge list of players like that who nobody had really heard about or that were highly ranked and didn't play in their first year or they were in their very first year at a program.
I'm not saying Jabrill will break any records, but it's a list that projects where a player will land. Younger guys are beginning to make more and more of an impact on football and Jabrill had a whole season to see what college football was like.
Jabrill was actually rated higher than every single player I just listed above. He's supremely athletic and there has already been a lot of hype about him. I'm not saying he'll be great. But honestly the odds that he'll be great are higher than him being terrible. He has all the right tools to come in immediately and make a huge impact.
I think people underestimate just how good and hyped he is. Michigan has only had a very few select amount of guys come in rated as highly as Jabrill. Many considered him the best player in his entire class. I can't recall having a guy rated that high ever at Michigan. And no Michigan player rated closely to him had his athleticism. The ones I can think of would be like Mallett and Henson. Neither were even close to what Jabrill is in terms of an athlete.
I actually looked at the top 10 rated recruits that we have a rating for, thanks to WD. Here is the top 5: Jabrill, Mallett, Woodley, Burgess, Graham. Every single one of those guys were at least All-Big Ten good and every one made it to the NFL. Jabrill was higher rated than every single one of them for a reason.
He's #1 in our hearts.
And #69 in our collective childish sense of humor.
Very impressive considering that he hasn't done anything yet.
I would love for Peppers to show some flashes of great play this year and create a high floor for himself, but if history is any indication, his year to truly shine will be next year. He has played less than 2 full games. Just my opinion, but I think Jourdan Lewis is the only other Michigan player who merits a top 100 mention.
What you said makes alot of sense. But this kid is by all appearances a phenome. I think he is going to be a major workhorse and leader for the team and will thrive under the coaching staff.
Butt in there ahead of Lewis but I get your point.

Shit. I come here to make a 69 joke, and all the good ones have been taken.
The guy hasn't done very much and he is there? Comeon man!! #thedealpeptown...isn't that how all you twitter folk do it? I compared him to Sammy Watson a few years back. The mgobloggers doubted my opinion. You'll have that. I still think he has more of a skill set. Time will tell. He has the same speed with more power. He can juke quicker at a younger age and can hit. Power isn't Watson's game. I think when Jabrill gets his feel in the open you'll see the jukes and if that isn't there, well then their twenty some year old candy asses are gettin jacked!! You'll see!! The guy is a starting freshman strong safety at Michigan. Need you be reminded.
He's a heady player that can take a blow and give as good as he gets, not one to muff, dives right in to the action, has a real knack for finding the gaps and getting his nose in there. He used to be kind of soft, as evidenced by how he always used to be seen petting his pussycat & eating a lot, but now he's ready to play hard with a lot of stamina.
However he hasn't played much yet so the great excitement might be leading to a premature evaluation, but they think he's a real comer & I congratulate the ranker and the rankee because it's better to give AND to receive, which puts them in a mutually satisfiying position. You might like it or not but that's the way it went down. When facing a spread he always gets such good licks in that it makes the other side suck.
