[RUMOR] Michigan MAY be included in NBA 2K16

Submitted by Bambi on

According to this website, which leads back to this Operation Sports forum post, 2K Sports has acquired the licensing rights for 10 colleges including Michigan. The other 9 are listed in the two linked posts.

While there is no official word as to why 2K has the rights to these 10 schools, the prevailing thought is that they will be featured in the next version of NBA 2K, specifically in the MyPlayer mode.

The MyPlayer mode for the NBA 2K games is one of the most succesful and popular game modes out right now. 2K has been tinkering with it and changing every year for a while. The thought for next year is that when you create your MyPlayer, you will get to choose one of those 10 teams to play on to help pump up your draft stock, similar to playing as a high schooler in the newer NCAA Football games.

If this is true and ends up actually happening, I'd be very excited. I think it would be a cool new adition to an already fun game, and having Michigan being one of the 10 featured teams would be even better.

7'6", 350 lb. Center who can shoot 100 from 3.
I was the best white player since Bird. Needless to say my team didn't lose much.

I think the last one I played was NBA Live 2006, I remember The Rockets were awesome. T-Mac in his prime and Yao to rim protect. Juwan Howard and Rafer Alston were good role players.

IIRC, ea stopped making the game because the schools and maybe the conferences pulled the licensing from ea. I think what 2K is possibly doing is feasible because they'd have truly generic players. Which would circumvent any player likeness issues that were at issue with the obannon suit.

Once O'Bannon case is resolved, I think it would be a great idea if 2k made a college hoops video game and allowed you to start your MyPlayer in college and export him to the NBA like Madden and NCAA Football used to.

NCAA College Hoops 2k8 is still the best college basketball game ever. I have wished apon a star for a new one... I am in the year 2023 in my dynasty.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but if it's true I'm gonna freak. I just got a PS4 and I would get 2K no matter what but this would be amazing.

roster on ncaa football 14 for next season, might grab 2k16 if they added college teams, maybe they'll have you play in the elite 8 or final 4.
