OT: Joe McKnight quote

I just saw this on Twitter: USC RB Joe McKnight to LA Daily News: “I’m not saying anything; you will just twist my words. You’ve all (ruined) my life.” Not sure what is going on here...but I was hoping he then ended that in Billy Madison style, "I hate football and I hate all of you, I'm never coming back EVER!"

... Mr McKnight is learning the hard way that the press is not your friend and there are more people that want to bring down USC than want to see him succeed. BTW, I wonder if USC blogs are boycotting the Times.

there aren't really that many people that want to bring down USC, given how rarely these seemingly substantive allegations get the full blown coverage of, say, every player that leaves the UM team, or every small Kiffin recruiting violation for a non-UM example. compared to many other schools, the USC program seems pretty well protected from prying media, on a par with that citadel known as Ohio State (i feel certain a buckeye player could get stopped by the cops with an AK-47 and it would never reach the headlines....ok, maybe not quite that far.)

I don't think there is a huge number of people trying to bring down USC, and if there is.....they really need to learn how things get done. Call Rosendouche for tips, he can almost bring down a team when there is nothing there at all. USC has had many shady things come to light over the past few years and the fact that nothing has been done tells me there is far more people covering things up for them than there are people trying to take them down.

Certain schools/coaches just seem to be branded "good" programs and are held above suspicion. It blows my mind that there are two recent incidents of players and their families receiving significant financial assistance and/or gifts from third parties and (relatively) little has been made of that. I think part of the reason, unfortunately, is that USC is effectively a pro team in LA and receives the lion's share of football coverage, and the NCAA is not inclined to disrupt that any time soon. It is so rare for a big-name school to be located in a major city (Georgia Tech, da U, and [somewhat] Northwestern and BC seem like the only exceptions off the top of my head), and as long as the NCAA can be a major player in the second largest media market in the US, it will be beneficial for them. I'm sure at some point they'll have to take action, but don't be surprised to see these types of infractions go unpunished for at least the near future.
