How does everyone predict this class will end up?
I'm guessing that we get Furman, Grimes, Murphy, Hankins and Parker. I realize that puts us at 29 (and the limit appears to be 28), but I don't think that both Drake and Kinnard are going to qualify. If we could manage to squeeze one more in, I think it's Wilson or one of the inside linebackers we're going after.

The only reason I don't think it's him is that this OP did not include Dillon Baxter in the 2010 class/2010 depth chart.

I think that given we have had a combined 8 wins over the past two years, this class is going to end up being superb.
We're in the top 20 on rivals right now (thanks to a higher # of commits than most) and I think we finish in the top 25 easily. This just shows what a great job RR and his recruiting staff have done to get kids to continue to believe in UM (Jay Hopson, I am not recruiting you in this).

Exactly. Even if we were coming of a typical 9-3/8-4 Lloyd Carr season, I would be extremely satisfied with this class!
The first thing that jumps out at you is the 9-10 db's (conelius?), and with 4 certified studs in robinson, parker, christian, and grimes. To say the least, I think that's just what the doctor ordered.
There's a ton of DL (7 total, with 3 studs - hankins, ash, wilkins) and WR (6 total, with 3 studs - miller, jackson, robinson) depth as well. Throw in a 5-star stud at QB, a stud at SB, and this is one hell of a class.
It's a bit disconcerning to be signing only 1 OL (pace) and 1 LB (furman), but with Lewan, Schofield, Washington, Bell, Jones, and Hawthorne all signing last year, I'm not TOO panicked. Besides, there's a chance Hopkins could end up at ILB, and a slight chance we could still sign Wilson.

I really doubt Johnathan Hankins is going to be in this class. He's waiting now until after the bowls to make a decision and is scheduling an Alabama visit without an Alabama offer.

And since when is Parker a guaranteed commit to us? I think that one is still largely up in the air and Jefferson going to OU doesn't help. Had he picked USC I think our chances become better but this isn't a Cullen Christian situation where you know who he's going to pick, it's just a matter of when he makes it known.

Thanks for the post which is substantially accurate, but I have some reservations about your proposed positions. Predicting where these guys will end up is largely subjective and dependent upon numerous future variables, but given what we know now I would say it is more likely that:
1) Hopkins and Drake (if qualified) will start at RB/SB. We have no depth at this position and RR likes to create fullbacks from walk-ons like the guy coming from Scripps Ranch.
2)Williamson is a wideout as he brings the field-stretching speed that we lack there. Lord knows we have enough slots!
3)The positions of the Wilkins/Paskorz/Kinard triumvirate are truly mysterious and the least predictable. Best guess is Kinard at LB, Wilkins either DE or Deathbacker, Paskorz DE.
4)Furman at SAM sounds right if SAM is the Stevie Brown spot which I still think we should push to have named "WolfMan".
5) If we get Parker then I think we will cool on Knight (and vice versa) and go after a linebacker for the last spot. Eight DB's is more than enough and the recent pursuit of Kitchens lends credence to this theory. Personally I would like to see one more OL signee as a class of one is really thin.
6)Everything else A-OK except that if there is an implied depth chart then I would put Witty ahead of Avery because he is a year more mature physically, has some familiarity with the system, and will enroll in January; plus the coaches were high on him last Summer.

nice response!
1) i listed hopkins as a fullback because he's a power back, but i should probably call him something else (suggestions?). i listed drake as a slot reciever for the same reasons i listed smith as a slot reciever at this time last year, might be wrong.
2) williamson is an outside reciever. i listed him as a slot reciever to balance out the numbers. that was dumb, i'll change it.
3) wilkins has said he's starting out at de. kinnard has said he's starting out at q. murphy has said he's being recruited as a de. given those numbers, size, and skill-set, i'd assume paskorz starts off at q as well.
5) 24 commits...3 silent commits (furman, grimes, murphy)...27 commits...1 open spot...goes to hankins or parker...if someone doesn't qualify, might get both...if two people don't qualify, might get wilson or a lb as well.
6) witty probably is the third corner in this class. its really strange to me that the staff has been so persistent in including him!?

Counting Witty as part of this class, we're at 24. Assuming Furman, Grimes and Murphy are, in fact, silent commits, that's 27. Thus, if 28 is actually our limit, we can't take both Parker and Hankins, let alone any of the other names that have been thrown around, without taking a decommit. I'd hate to see guys not qualify, like Drake and Kinnard. We need both of them. Avery sounds like a good player, but he seems to be the one we hear least about. With so many other DB's, he may be the odd-man out. Thoughts?
