Arena Football on ESPN2
Fell asleep last night watching Philadelphia Soul @ LA Kiss. That is one ugly "field" they play on in LA.
I love those Nike jerseys
49-21 Spokane........with a minute left in the 2nd quarter. They could hit 100 points.
Truesdell is having himself quite a night. Portland has no chance against him
so I'm glad you made this. I had to record a hand about a month ago because it was so white trash hilarious. Arizona v San Jose (or some San Jose like city lol). Anyway, some fans had entire sofas & giant KFC buckets! One woman on air was disgusting, had 3 ratty kids who were clearly picking a fight and she just sat there with get bucket watching. Then she has her mouth full of food and yells at them and the food congress flying out. She was Momma Grape sized and all greasy. I felt so bad. The arena clearly blacked out the upper bowls to keep it from looking like there were only a few thousand people there but those there were hardcore. Even the game is just sad as the players know they're at the bottom of the pro food chain. Same game had teammates clearly mouthing off to each other with zero respect between them and their coaches. So trashy I had to hit "record" lol.
I'm too lazy to proofread and Swype autocorrect is pathetic. Yet, it's so fast that I can't be bothered to type anymore. I quit ha.
Well, that ARE still getting paid to play a game they (probably) love, so I can't imagine a lot of them are complaining they're not working in a cubicle.

they have to have a 'day' job to live i guess. i mean, it's basically a really fun hobby at that point.
18-game season.
Nobody's buying a home in the Bay Area (or Fresno either) on that salary alone, but they do get to keep playing. I respect that.
a grand a game. It definitely can't be a full time thing. That's about the year salary of low end pro wrestlers like Mickey Rourke. /s?
I seriously hope that the AFL provides good medical care to the players as they are still playing a physically demanding sport.
$830 per game (x 18). QBs get $1080 per game. All players are eligible for subsidized housing ($600 a month).
:/
Not a whole lot.
but it was still way fun to keep playing. there really is no other game like football.
I actually love watching arena football. It's something to watch in the off season.

I've always enjoyed watching it. I grew up watching the Detroit Drive dominate the league.
The Drive...the first AFL dynasty. Those were fun games.

Not true. It's not the bottom of the pro football chain.
It's the 3rd best league behind the NFL and CFL.
You have the NFL, CFL and then the AFL.
Then after that, you basically have the minor leagues that feed the Arena League.
- Indoor Football League
- Fall Experimental Football League
- American Professional Football League
- American Indoor League
- Champions Indoor Football
- Lone Star Football League
- Professional Indoor Football League
Boubacar Cissoko recently played for the Trenton Freedom of the PIFL. He was called up by the New Orleans VooDoo recently.
Elliott Mealer, Craig Roh and Jeremy Gallon all played in the FXFL last year with Gallon winning the first FXFL Championship with the Brooklyn Bolts.
Roy Roundtree plays for the Colorado Ice of the IFL:
but I'm talking about those that see any TV time. Those that the average football fan could name, etc. A buddy actually played in a SUPER low end but pay league years ago in SE MI. By "Pro" I mean those that we even see or read about.....ever.
This couch is amazing #merica
Terrance Taylor was from Muskegon. I was watching the Michigan @ Northwestern game in 2008 in a bar in Muskegon. At some point in the game he got a sack and started doing a little dance and the place went nuts!
It was either a sack or he body slammed someone. If anyone has a gif or video of that sequence, I'd be sooooo happy.
He was always one of my favorite players. I was just starting my jr. high football playing days when he was at Michigan and I played DL so I wanted to be just like him on that field.
Guy is still just a beast.
the cardinals?
You're thinking of Alan Branch, I think.
Taylor was taken in the 4th round in the 2009 draft by the Colts. He was a practice squad player in the NFL on the Colts, Panthers and Lions before going to the Arena League.
He's been in the AFL for 5 years now, most of them with the Shock.
as a 4th rounder, didn't make the team. Practice squad guy a year or two (Panthers, Lions).
and yes, i think that was alan branch i was thinking of. close in years i'm guessing.
Close in years, not in stature or playing style

Quite the wrestler in HS also

Correction, the game was in 2007 and not 2008.
As a Muskegon High alum, it's great being able to see Big T play on television, even if it's AFL.
I've never understood why an indoor football league can't catch on. With the popularity of college and nfl you would think someone could create an exciting family friendly game that also interests the true football fans. The biggest issue is the size constraints of the field in small arenas obviously.
It's hard when teams pop up and fold so often. It's hard to build a fanbase...Plus it's hard to know the players. The indoor team in Wichita has had four different QBs this season, The best one played at some NAIA school I've never heard of. I enjoy their games, but a lot of people can't relate to the players.
Jared Lorenzen. The Hefty Lefty. The Pillbury Throwboy. J Load. Whatever you want to call him might give Terrance Taylor a run for his money in the size department. Guy won a Super Bowl Ring as Eli's backup and then went to indoor football.
He was pissed after the game. He shook a few Thunder players hands and then stormed off.
