but he'll come in this fall behind all the other QB's.  All of them have a leg up on him, whether it be game experience or time with the program or both.   That's a lot of horses for this "dark horse' to pass.

A much better bet is that he takes a redshirt year, unless he really blows away the competition from the start of camp.

There is no way that Gentry plays this year unless Michigan experiences just a slew of QB injuries.  In no particular order there is Morris, Rudock, Speight, and Malzone, and those are just the scholarship players, who will have a lot to say about who is Michigan's QB.

Edit to add:  If Gentry sees the field this season, and it isn't because Michigan suffered a rash of injuries, you have to consider what that says about Harbaugh and company's ability to coach.

Maybe im just some back country soccer rube, but, what would gentry taking over in wk 8 say about harbaugh? That hes a really good qb coach who took a talented young guy to the point that he could start as a true frosh? Doesnt seem bad to me.. That hes such a horrible coach that all the older qbs couldnt do the job but the true frosh? Ill take my chances and say thats unlikely.. My debate is not with your first paragraph, it probably is trouble if we have to count on a true frosh qb. But that would not speak to the coaching ability of harbaugh, but more to the recruiting choices of borges and hoke. I say this as a firm believer in speight. I know, lol at me now.. but his tape in hs is amazing.. so apply your own grain of salt, but gentry starting has little to do with harbaugh and tons to do with borges and hoke.. Maybe were arguing the same point, but i dont see 4 qb injuries as being more likely than gentry being qb1 cone october..

I think he's the guy after this season, but he'll be just too raw and too inexperienced this season to crack the top of the depth chart.

But I do think he's got the most potential and upside of any QB on our current roster. Can't wait to see what Harbaugh can do with him when he gets his hands on him.

I think most people would agree that the chance Gentry starts is pretty low but who knows what could happen. I mean, what if he comes in to fall ball and is just lights out? I don't think any of these QB's are taking this opportunity lightly. May the best man win. If it happens to be Gentry then give the guy a shot.

If gentry plays, were playing the best guy that harbaugh saw in fall and the season. Its not like hes taking a spot from griese, driesbach, navarre, henne, etc. Hes taking a spot from a guy who hasnt thrown a college touchdown and an iowa qb.. i hate to inform you, but we have 3 borges qbs, an iowa transfer, and gentry. Adjust expectations accordingly..
