Why don't you google that shit like an adult.
I would have wasted a perfectly good opportunity to annoy you specifically.
Well put.

????
This is BS. I'm a huge Tool fan and there has been zero announcements for ANY 2015 tour dates!
look at your subject line.
last night for Mumford and Sons. learn from my mistake...park in the back. Sat in the parkking lot for 50 min.
I appreciate the heads up.
I've always wanted to see SOAD live... have fun!
The Tool fanpage on facebook posted an update the other day about Tool playing at the Cubby Bear in Chicago- I almost shit myself. Turns out it's actually just a tribute band and all of Tool's fans on facebook got the shit trolled out of them, myself included
I find it amazing that a band with only five albums to their name, none of which have been released in the last 10 years, is still such a big draw. A major credit to them.
I don't think I've thought of them since they released Toxicity. When was that? 2001?
I saw SOAD the first time at DTE (then Pine Knob, of course) opening up the main stage at Ozzfest 1999. Their debut album had recently been released, and I had never heard of them. I remember specifically watching them bouncing around on stage during the verse riff to "Sugar" and me thinking to myself, "What the hell am I listening to???" Just a few months later, they were well on their way to the top of the hard rock world.
That shitty nu-metal band is still around???

SOAD has no connection to Nu-Metal. And yes - they are no Dave Matthews if that's your preference.
I like Nu-Metal. They are Nu-Metal
Musically they never have fit the genre, even though people have always tried to crowbar them in with a lot of bands that were around during that period.
my thought. To each his own and all, but, I mean, UGH. I'd seriously rather listen to Nickelback.
My favorite band of all time. I'm flying to Toronto on Friday to catch that show since I couldn't make it to the Detroit show tonight. The setlist for tonight's show is going to be ridicuolous - judging from their non-festival solo shows - you should be getting about 35 songs tonight. Check out setlist.fm if you are curious. Have fun tonight. I hope you have good seats!
Parking at DTE is free, or I should rephrase, the price is included in the ticket because of the Clarkston curfew effect. Make sure you park as far in the back as possible because its a mad house trying to leave as there is only 1 exit and it's only 2 lanes.
Also plan to drink outside in the parking lot otherwise you're going to be paying $10 for a shitty bud light while inside the park.
One time when I was at a concert there, they made the mistake (a convenient one) of not totally blocking off access to Pine Knob Road (which has access to Waldon, therefore Shashabaw) and it made things considerably easier (although I am sure people that live nearby were steamed). Like I said though, I think that was something that was just overlooked - I don't believe that's normal.
And construction getting onto 75. Was there last night for Mumford and we spent over an hour before or car could even mov ten feet
I was at the Yerevan Republic Square (aka their ancestral Armenia homecoming) concert back on April 23 and SOAD absolutely rocked. They still have it. If the set list is anything similar to their European tour, it will be most of the stuff off their previous albums...plus a couple covers of some patriotic Armenian songs and a 3-4 part political cartoon on genocide (which is why they're doing the tour first place).
Likes has been said, park in the back. Arrive early and tailgate your face off. Bring plastic cups to pour your drinks into in the parking lot and security will leave you alone. Be careful when you inevitably wander off into the woods to pee; they tend to frown upon that.
I missed Mumford but was there a couple weeks ago to see George Thorogood. They had this new thing called "The Blue Zone' that just required a name and e-mail to setup. You essentially got access to a little area right behind the hill that had slightly lesser priced cocktails and a cheap(er) beer. Also had a nice little food station that had the Union Woodshop Mac'n'cheese and pulled pork sliders. Yum.
Love SOAD so Im totally jealous I cant make this show, especially since I never thought they would tour again. Have fun!
As others have mentioned, getting into/out of the parking lot can be real pain. As I've attended 30-40 shows there, here's my super secret plan:
- Look online at the set lists for previous shows. See if the band has a sure-fire "show's over" closer (e.g., perhaps it's Chop Suey). Then, when that song comes on, I get out of my seat (if in Pavillion) / walk down the hill (Lawn) and start walking, slowly, towards the exit. I'm still watching the show, but I'm on the move.
- Then, many bands play a 30-120 seconds long "Thank you, good night!" type jam at the end, take their bows, etc. Once I get the sense that's happening, I'm walking out of DTE like my hair is on fire. I'm serious -- walk like you're in the Olympics.
- Of course, you can skip the last song entirely (I've only done this once). Maybe you're sick of a certain song, who knows?
If you do any of this, even though it only shaves 2-3 minutes off the show, it can save you 20-40 minutes of waiting.
...and if you don't mind waiting and/or really want to see the whole show until they turn the lights on, that's completely fine. Just realize you're likely going to be stuck for 30-45 minutes. Sometimes the last song is worth it, sometimes not.
I thought it was worth it at first, but now I'm not sure. This place is logistically the dumbest thing I've ever experienced.
Hope you have a great time. I saw these guys almost 10 years ago and they were the most energetic band I have ever seen. A little bit older now but I hope they put on a great show!
I believe it is pronounced "Pine Knob"
OT: I was pretty trashed at a Soundgarden show at Pine Knob back in '94 or so, but I made up for that by seeing Soundgarden a couple of weeks later in DC (indoors).
