Play off Bo Shemheckler's thread.

Had about 1.5 L of Weihenstephaner Weissbier at Doner Bistro in Fredrick, MD.

About to open a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch #8 while Mrs/Dr Gopoohgo catches up on work while watching LOR #3 on TNT.

Weihenstephaner is truly a masterpiece. I wish the megabrewers in the US brewed like that. I'm working on some Short's Good Humans and reading HTTV. It pairs nicely with runningbacks.

As German beer goes, it really doesn't get any better than Augustiner Edelstoff IMO. Hard to find in the States, but absolutely blew my mind while in München.

I went through a period that lasted many years where I only drank Hefeweizen. I'm a huge fan of Paulaner, but Weihenstephaner is a close second and then Franziskaner.

When I lived in Zurich it was the only decent beer sold at the Denner (Swiss discount grocer). It came in half-liter cans and I'm sure the Swiss customs officials didn't exactly expedite its arrival into Switzerland, but it was still great.

Certainly way better than any of the mass produced Swiss beers, but that's not really saying much.

Just snagged a 1.75L bottle of Makers Mark at my fiancée's 10-year reunion. Probably a tacky thing to do but also satisfying, funny, and since we've been in school a million years pursuing three doctorates between the two of us (she just finished her PhD in Hispanic Linguistics!!) and are therefore poor as shit, I'm cool with being a Robin Hood who takes from the rich and gives to his girl.

And are on a limited budget, would recommend Weller Special reserve.  Sazerac/1792 is coming out with a 90 proof wheat mashbill later this summer for $30ish.

I have cask-strength Makers, but haven't opened it yet.  Reviews seem to lean towards not being worth the 50% premium over regular strength.

Finishing off some Oberon (which isn't what it used to be, still good, but not the same) and then onto some Bookers. Kobe beef burgers going on the grill very soon.

I gave up drinking for 6 months.  Im on my 4th day and have lost 4 pounds.  Im not a fat guy, but was creeping up there and also I want to give my liver a rest.  Clean it out, get rid of the 'fatty liver' which is a precursor to cirrhosis.

Enjoy your beverages mates!

Ice water out of a water bottle now. Headed to the Lightning/Blackhawks game shortly and will probably end up drinking overpriced Cigar City Jai Alai while rooting for an Yzerman win/Blackhawks loss.

...in the offseason... ...and after a win...

Having a glass of red wine a from a bottle a friend gave me. It has a label on it with lovely words composed in a very nice fancy script. Watching tigers on tape delay at my parents home in Saginaw. Dad is in other room in a hospital bed in the late stages of brain cancer. Might finish the bottle. Wish I was sharing it with him right now. He'd tell me how great the wine was. Took him on a cruise, just the two of us for three days in February. Glad we got to do that. So. Take a sip of whatever life has you drinking right now. And then go kiss or text who you love and let them know.
