17 in a Row, Babycakes!

Chad Henne tied a Miami Dolphin record with 17 consecutive pass completions!!!

(It's a single-game record; Chad Pennington did it over 2 games.)

``I like his preparation,'' Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. ``When he threw this week in practice, he was about 83 percent.''

In a 14-10 victory over the Jags, Henne was 21 for 29 for 220 yds, 0 TDs, 1 INT, and he rushed for a 1yd TD.

I think some are still waiting to see how much "spread-like"/wildcat the Dolphins will go. Both their back-ups, White and Thigpen (admit, I gotta root for the local Coastal Carolina guy too) are spread QB's who can run well.

It would not be earth shattering if they built him up and traded him off for value, depending which way they wanted to go.

I'd personally love to see him on a team that goes verticle more. I think he'd be a stud. He needs some WR's down there.

Cassel was traded because Brady was coming back from an injury (and it is beyond dispute that Brady is a much better QB). On the other hand, I would be shocked if the Dolphins trade Henne. Pennington is getting old by NFL standards (around 35 or so) and doesn't have Henne's arm. IME, Henne will be playing in Miami for a long time.

the problem with that is as much as i would love for him to stay put, i don't see him being their "solution/franchise qb." he's a hell of a player but as one poster said above, they seem to want a more mobile qb than him. frankly i think a player like dixon would be more congruent with what they're trying to do on offense. henne is a more vertical qb and they don't have the WRs to keep the defense honest on the deep ball that he can throw.

It would be a huge mistake if they were to get rid of him. Regardless of whether they want to go more mobile, the mere threat of a vertical passing game makes teams change the way they defend. Even though more teams are instituting a wildcat package into their offense, there is no legitimate threat of the wildcat ever becoming a primary system. If Pat White were to be the starting QB for the Dolphins, he would be placed on the injured reserve within three weeks.

Not the same, but KC changed entirely to a QB/run based spread when Thigpen took over due to injury last year. If their WHOLE team didn't suck, they'd have been somewhat successful. (close games)

With more and more teams incorporating it, those who want to stay outside the norm will continue to increase their usage.

We've already transitioned to dual RB roles on most teams. I truly believe dual QBs or more mobile QBs will be next. Look at the Eagles game last night (if you watched). McNabb/Vick in backfield/in motion together...

Whatever transpires, I think Henne would perform better if he were on a dedicated pass team, using more of the field. Someone will want that package in their QB. I hate seeing him go to the sidelines so much in Miami.

I hate seeing Henne on the sidelines for so much of the game as well, but I have to think a slower acclimation into the offense has paid dividends in terms of development.

I agree that dual/mobile QB systems will become more prevalent in the NFL. But, until there are enough QB's in the league with the rare combination of proficiency running/passing as well as durability, it will be more of a fad.

It's been fun to watch him since the Brown injury. With less WildCat formations being used they are starting to see the real Henne.

I'm sure many here will agree with me, but I never doubted Henne's ability and thought he'd do very well as a pro. Even that noted Michigan H8ter, Colin Cowherd, repeatedly said the same thing.

And no, i do not hve a link to Cowherd's quotes about Henne.
