Parker was a lean and then with the coaching change put out a top 5 (maybe 6) with ND noticably absent. Who knows if they will get back into it. I've never felt like we were going to land him, but hate to see rivals get studs who we will have to play for a few years.

The Bearcats just had 4 defensive players drafted (3 of them from the secondary) after a year where they were ranked somewhere around 30th in total D. This year, they had to replace 10(!) starters on D, and they're still in the top 50. Kelly's no Bo Pellini, but the meme about him not playing defense isn't necessarily 100% accurate.

Cincinnati's D-line this year is undersized, so lining up against a power-running offense was a real struggle for them. (Why does that sound familiar?)

And like I said, I'm not claiming Kelly's a defensive genius, but I think you have to give him some respect for putting together an above-average defense after replacing 10 starters (4 of them drafted!) at Cincinnati, of all places.

I was hoping the ND coaching search would take longer, and may be we would have a chance at Parker. I'm sure you will see ND back at the top of Parker's list. Kelly is a great recruiter. RR has the potential to be one, especially if he can get us some more wins!

Still, in the end, the PAC10 teams are going to be the teams to beat for parker. strong year for that conference. i dont expect a lot of defection from the cali ranks with oregon, washington and zona picking up all the extra slack this year.

Johnathan Hankins made his official visit to Ohio State this weekend as scheduled. He discusses the trip with Bucknuts.com including ranking his college choices in order.
After making official visits to Virginia, Florida and Michigan in that order, Detroit (Mich.) Southeastern defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins was in Columbus for his official visit to Ohio State.

“I really liked it,” Hankins said. “The players were real cool, like (DeVier) Posey. I talked mostly to the people on the defensive line. Keith Wells and then Solomon (Thomas) were my hosts. I vibed real well with all of them. I had a good time.”

When asked what else impressed him on the visit, Hankins said, “I liked the tutoring program they have. Every class they have a tutor for you if you need it.”

Going into his visit to Ohio State, Hankins had Florida at the top of his list. He was asked if that has changed.

“Yeah, Ohio State is on top,” Hankins said. “I was thinking about committing, but not right now. My dad is kind of sick, so I’m thinking about staying close to home. (Ohio State) might be the place to go.”

Where does that leave Michigan, the closest school to home for Hankins?

“I liked Michigan, but they are on the bottom right now,” Hankins said. “Ohio State is No. 1, Florida is two and Michigan is three.”

Hankins said he probably won’t take any other official visits.

“I’ll probably decide by the end of next week,” he said. “But maybe sooner.”

The 6-foot-3 and 310-pound Hankins made 85 tackles including 12 sacks as Southeastern finished with a 10-1 record.

Not allowed to start a thread (or even delete my own posts?) I realized the "silent commit" thread was a better spot for this information so I posted it there. I'd delete it from this thread but I guess that's not allowed. And I'm not your "dude."
