Jaylen Brown To Cal
Uh, okay?
Jaylen Brown tells Scout that he has committed to California. Story coming.

The lesson, as always, is that Tennessee is bad at having college sports. It would have been real, real nice to grab Brown but Michigan is still looking at a very deep roster that should see them have a nice 2015-16. C'est la vie.

and just say that I think he really wants to play with Ivan Rabb, I think he's a better player than Jaylen IMHO.
C'est la vie, C'est la vie, C'est la vie
I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do... www.jobs-review.com
That's odd, I thought you were a reporter for the Washington Post whose articles I occasionally read when someone leaves the Metro section in the toilet stall at work.
What a shame, he would have fit in nicely.

Extremely talented people have a way of doing that.
But yeah...sigh...agreed

When it comes down to it, as a likely 1 and done, it may have come down to the lack of a real coherent fit here. Irvin and Lever are going to get theirs, and what Dawkins did last year can't be ignored. Sure, Brown would been part of the feature, but it is hard to believe he was going the be THE feature of the offensive rotation. To me, this make the Kenny Williams development all the more puzzling, and disappointing, because I think he could have seen real meaningful time if Spike has to redshirt. Ah well, Harbaugh.
WHA?.gif
At least it wasn't Kentucky... but Cal? Comung man!
Did he mean Cal Ipari?
We're a two-and-done school anyways. Forget the one-and-dones.
Brown has been quoted as saying he sees himself needing two years so that he is ready when he makes the jump...
and you trust him?
Why wouldn't you?
2 out of the last 10 top 5 prospects have stayed more than 1 year.
JB's stuff is too hard to learn and execute for a kid coming out of high school. A one-and-done would do better to look elsewhere. That's not sour grapes just how I don't think a one-and-done will flourish in JB's system.
Sucks for all those who count stars as recruiting wins but I'd rather have actual wins on the court.
great analysis
WTF?!?
Wow, I'm at a loss of words.

I'm more shocked than anything. Any chances we try to fill that last spot?
No one left to recruit for a 2015 scholarship that has high level skill set is there ?
Applaud the kid for sticking to his academic interests. I just think his basketball interests would have been better suited here

What academic opportunities do they offer that Michigan doesn't?
at least it's not Kentucky so you can't knock the kid for going back on everything he said about academics being a big factor.
When it's Michigan and Cal the only difference in academics is in particular programs where one will be better than the other. I would say he chose a level of academics over strictly a basketball team, unless he already was looking at particular fields. So even though academics seems to have been what led him to schools like Michigan and Cal it was probably something other than academics that made the difference between us.
This I would agree with

Rationalizing his decision for him:
Academics are a wash. Cal's great, we're great, whatever.
He's probably a lottery pick regardless of the skill development going on.
Berkeley weather > Ann Arbor weather
And the real tiebreaker for any 18 year old dude: California girls.
As a Cal grad, I can attest that SF/Berkeley does NOT have the same California girls you're thinking of
My wife is a Berkeley grad. Them's fighting words!

think we can all agree that all California girls are undeniable.
and the California men are a million times better than any other man in the entire country! Yum yum! Can we not have this stupid blanket statement discussion again about someone's personal opinion of beauty and where they ALL go to college.
Dude. Xanax. .5 mg. Take one.
You're right. I need to remember my audience. Sorry for the rant. Just seems to come up a lot. Maybe that never factored into Jaylen's decision. Pass on the xanax. Thanks, though.
wasn't his point. He didn't say better; but Cal is certainly legit and comparable.
Does Tennessee have to do with anything here??
I think he's referring to them getting rid of Cuonzo Martin, who is now the coach at Cal and has since recruited the #1 and #5 players in the country according to Scout.
Still far from intuitive. What a weird ass turn of events. But this kind of crap is exactly why I don't EVER let myself get too hyped over recruiting anymore--I never even watched his YouTube stuff.
Don't. It will make it worse. Dude is nasty and would've been beast on this team. there's a reason people are highly disappointed.
...or at least that's how I took it.
Welp, at least Levert is still coming. Basketball team should still be pretty damn good next year. Also, HARBAUGH!
What elite player goes to Cal?
The #5 player in the nation that committed to them earilier. So i guess the answer is at least one other elite player other than Brown
though, right?
So who is are sleeper this year? Someone has to surface.
So who is are sleeper this year? Someone has to surface.
WTH!!!
I love my Wolverines and I love my Cats, but how the hell do you choose two teams that have been title contenders within the last four years to a team that has never been relevant to basketball?!? Completely non-sense. Wish him the best, but what a terrible decision. Two best coaches in the game.
