MSU gets commitment from 5-star Swanigan

Submitted by lukepanici on
5 star center Caleb Swanigan has committed to the Spartans. This gives Izzo two McDonald's AA big men in one class. It'll be interesting to see how he and Davis can perform together.

We just saw it take 3/4 of a season for the current crop of freshman to pick it up.  It's not your average HS offense.  I don't think a kid can come in and be a star his 1st year.  Well, maybe a true 5 that only has to run the floor, set screens, get rebounds, and attack the basket ala McGary.

That's why I don't see Brown coming.

This is true. The tweet is wrong because it is 5, but the point is Coach Beilein has had more early departures.

Haha you two are pathetic. Sack up and quit acting like Izzo's prison toys. Have some heart to at least hope for your team to be good in the future. What kind of person just accepts defeat before the game is even scheduled? As if MSU hasn't gotten 5 star before. Pathetic.

I'm about 75% certain that Ty Butterfield is a concern troll.  I don't know how he's managed that point total when it seems like all of his posts are extremely negative and whining about how MSU is unbeatable.

93Grad might be another one.  If he is a Michigan fan, he comes off as an emotional trainwreck, attacking players personally (this year, his favorite target was Chatman).

How the hell has Ty Butterfield not be banned from the site.

A summary of his posts.

We are going to keep Hoke and Brandon.

We have no chance at Harbaugh (repeat numerous times a day from end of November through December)

We are going to get blownout -every basketball game preview

Like what is the point of coming to this site when you think every player and every one of our teams are no good.    What good does it so coming to a fansite

This guy must have no life to hate everything and still come here.

The local media's refusual to do a star ranking breakdown on rosters for basketball from 2011-2014 proves your point.  We sweep their 2011 team that was loaded.

You know that same breakdown they do when we play them in football.   They point and laugh and say look at all those 4stars and high ranked guys at Michigan and they still lose!

Getting decimated by injuries and losing guys for half a season are the only reason we didn't sweep them again.

You are without question the worst poster on this site.  Every comment you make is either an attack on Michigan teams or a compliment to OSU and MSU.  Your posting history is filled with almost nothing but bringing down UM athletics.  You're either a very industrious troll, or the softest little bitch fan on the planet (with Ty Butterfield a close second).

Because they swept us in a year when our two best players were hurt, we had lost five major contributors from the season before, and they started four top-100 HS players / four upperclassmen? The stars won't always align for them like that. Also, that was the most fraudulent Final Four run we've seen in quite some time.

He is in many ways an inverse to Beilein.  One *could* argue Beilein creates systems to uplift players to stature higher than they would be in isolation.  They have not had superior NBA production.  So he might get them over their level a bit at the college levl.

While Izzo's guys seem to get better in the NBA - guy like Green for example.  Or heck Randolph and Richardson.   It cannot be a blanket statement but yeah for the level MSU recruits (which is not Duke Kansas UK but is at the next tier with UCLA Arizona etc) he has  kept everyone 4 years (outside of Gary Harris) for a decade.
