@michigannews13: Bad news Deveon Smith He is in legal trouble - not at liberty to say yet, but it is not good. Alcohol involved.

There are thousands of kids walking around Michigan's campus every weekend that meet the State of Michigan's legal definition of Minor in Posession.  Unfortunate if he was nailed for it, but if that's in fact the case, hopefully is not too severe of a punishment, a few (dozen?) stadium runs?

Can't say what his punishment will be from the football team, but legally... Shouldn't be more than $100 fine and some community service. Unless things have changed in the last several years, everyone I know who got arrested for MIP, UIP, Drunk In Public, Open Intox, etc in undergrad ended up in the 1st time offenders slap on the wrist program. No criminal record either.

Just amazing... back in NYC in my day, drinking in public underage would get you a summons in court, and a $15 fine... no record.    Not that this happened to me or anything.

No, you read it correctly. I just assumed the MIP was for weed since that's what I usually hear MIPs around these parts associated with. I didn't see the tweet until just now.

Makes me wonder if the NCAA would have had the nerve to suspend an athlete at University of Colorado if they tested positive for weed (a la McGary), despite every other kid on campus being allowed to get baked all they want.

Having grown up in another country I just think on how many times I would have been in trouble for that, my aunt even handed me money to buy a six pack with my cousins...
