Nebraska Vs. Texas
Nebraska has shown everyone a lot with how well their defense has played. If only their offense could step it up and get some points on the board that don't involve their kicker. If anyone saw the halftime show it was pretty funny how bad those girls were at throwing the football but that was not what stood out. Dana Jacobson is one fat lady. I thought she was decent prior to seeing her on the field interviewing the winner. Whew

Nebraska...the anti-Michigan.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:16 PM ^
Suh is a monster.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:18 PM ^
as is Dana.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:59 PM ^
I thought she was kind of hot back in the day but it seemed to all go downhill for her after the vodka laden rant she went on at the ESPN roast of Mike & Mike where she went on to swear abouth Notre Dame and just about everything catholic she could. I thought it was funny but aparently a lot of catholics didn't. I am catholic and thought it was ironic since most catholics look forward to Lent and the weekly fish fries and summer picnics where everyone consumes as much alcohol as possible.

...is a freaking monster and one man wrecking crew.
Did anyone else see him hold off the Texas lineman with one arm and sack McCoy with the other arm?
Unbelievable.
He is more than deserving of every piece of defensive hardware he has been nominated for.
I don't care who you are or how you feel about Nebraska, if you don't like the way this young man plays, you don't like football.
End of story.

Sadly, will not get an invite to New York next Saturday. Stupid voters.
Rolando McClain should be getting one too.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:18 PM ^
That halftime contest set women's rights back 50 years.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:18 PM ^
Kinda ironic, under Callahan, Nebraska had a really good offense but terrible defense, and now under Pelini, they have the exact opposite. Maybe NE fans will forgive Callahan and bring him back to be the offensive coordinator.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:19 PM ^
trust me, we all want texas to win. a bama v. tcu or cincy national championship game will give us nothing more than a quarter of entertainment.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:33 PM ^
If NU wins, Cincinnati may make the title game, and that could persuade Kelly to turn down the ND job. I'll take that over an exciting final.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:37 PM ^
not so fast. for whatever reason, tcu has a stronger ranked schedule and is currently ahead in the polls. is a one point win over pittsburgh (and based on a botched extra point) going to be enough to move them ahead?
December 5th, 2009 at 10:39 PM ^
I'd expect the voters to put them at #2. They're Big East champs, which carries more weight than MWC champs.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:43 PM ^
and that might be a good call.
...i heard something on espn radio a moment ago where freddie coleman and mel kiper were saying that voters in the last week are more concerned with the national championship matchup than with the strength of the season. the strange/scary thing, however, was that they both thought this was something that would be in TCU's favor.
I'm not going to lie and say I've watched a lot of TCU games this year, but seriously?
December 5th, 2009 at 10:50 PM ^
I'm not lying. I've seen about five of TCU's games this year and that is one solid football team. I believe they've beaten four teams that are currently ranked. Florida has beaten ONE.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:04 PM ^
hmm...that makes a texas loss much more interesting. i didn't realize that they had beaten 4 ranked teams. i looked at their schedule and saw that only two teams they had beaten were ranked at the time. i wish i would have watched more of them so i had more to say...
since you've watched them a few times, you might be able to answer another question i had regarding TCU. how serious a candidate do you think gary patterson is for the hc-ing job at notre dame? i heard that they really preferred a defensive minded coach.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:23 PM ^
I hope Gerg is taking notes for next year.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:27 PM ^
Note #1: Recruit more kids named "Ndamukong"
December 5th, 2009 at 10:35 PM ^
...I think we can say that the Blackshirts are definitely back.
Nebraska will terrorize the Big 12 for the next decade if Pelini assembles an offense that is half as solid as his defense.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:33 PM ^
McCoy's stock is falling, but he is a very good short field punter.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:36 PM ^
Texas literally should kneedown three times and punt and make the Nebraska offense beat them.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:37 PM ^
What a bullshit PI penalty. How the hell can you call that?
December 5th, 2009 at 10:40 PM ^
That call was pure BS.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:45 PM ^
Nebraska Defense 2007: #112
Nebraska Defense 2008: #55
Nebraska Defense 2009: #11
December 5th, 2009 at 10:48 PM ^
Did Musberger (sic?) say that Turner Gill is the leading candidate for the Kansas job?
December 5th, 2009 at 10:50 PM ^
Yes, apparently he is reading the scroll at the bottom of the screen.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:51 PM ^
Until Suh slaps around some 105LB coed like Christian Peter and Lawrence Phillips he has not earned that Blackshirt status!
OK-Yes Suh is a monster but once he is gone will the cornholers continue to be dominant in anything other then the Big 12 North? Texas has beaten a broken Bob Stoops team, an over rated OKLA State team and a rebuilding Red Raider squad. This is not last years Big 12. I would put Texas up against our own children of the corn, Joe Pa and Sweater Vest and tell you they lose at least 1, likely 2 and possibly all three depending on the IA QB. As for Nebraska they are improved but is this defense the Blackshirts we remember of Dr. Tom?
December 5th, 2009 at 11:02 PM ^
...I would argue there is never going to be another Dr. Tom. Just like there will never be another Bo, Crisler, Yost, Lombardi, Bryant, Hayes, Rockne, Bowden, Paterno, or Stagg. Those guys were literally lightning in a bottle, and I think it's ultimately counterproductive to hope to see another similar coaching talent in your lifetime.
Based on this game, and the other bits and pieces of Nebraska I've seen this season, I believe that this Nebraska defensive unit is worthy of the Blackshirt label.
Obviously it will be a huge challenge for Pelini to replace Suh, but I think this season, and Suh's probable NFL success, will give him some pretty solid momentum on the recruiting trail.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:52 PM ^
Are you fucking kidding me? That is another bullshit PI penalty.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:57 PM ^
Nebraska has been on the wrong end of two very bad PI calls. I hate Nebraska, but I hate bad PI calls more. (However, I hate bad roughing the passer calls even more.)
December 5th, 2009 at 10:59 PM ^
Are you saying they were uncatchable? If not, you can't push the receiver in the chest without getting a PI call.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:09 PM ^
Yeah, it looked to me like both were uncatchable. The first was particularly egregious -- it looked more like a throwaway than a pass.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:57 PM ^
Can Nebraska get 6 here?
December 5th, 2009 at 10:57 PM ^
Great punt return. Too bad the offense can't do anything with it
December 5th, 2009 at 10:58 PM ^
Nebraska's offense is way too predictable.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:00 PM ^
I feel like I'm watching a Mike DeBord-coordinated offense, only minus the talent.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:02 PM ^
pelini just did the bill lynch gum throw
December 5th, 2009 at 11:08 PM ^
2.5 out of 5 Bill Lynch's. Pelini wasn't furious enough.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:04 PM ^
Nebraska Offense: #92
December 5th, 2009 at 11:05 PM ^
This makes last years Sheridan lead offense look unstoppable.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:07 PM ^
It kind of baffles me that Texas hasn't been able to do anything against N the entire game. I mean, this is ridiculous.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:11 PM ^
3rd and 16 and the D collapses.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:11 PM ^
Why would you blitz on third and 16 when your d line has been getting pressure on its own?
December 5th, 2009 at 11:12 PM ^
Did Herbstreit really bring up the Heisman for McCoy? Come on, he's not even close to being the best player on the field.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:13 PM ^
UT may run out the clock.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:14 PM ^
Yeah. Come on Nebraska.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:14 PM ^
Wow, shades of Donovan Warren.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:17 PM ^
Nebraska is driving, only about 3 minutes remaining.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:18 PM ^
BCS collpase is approaching.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:18 PM ^
That noise in the background of this game is most of Gainesville cheering for the Huskers to pull this off and give the Fighting Tebows a chance at the NC game.
