And that's why next year, the situation we saw during the Wisconsin game -- that "how the hell is Michigan even in this" situation -- is never going to cross anyone's mind.

Yes indeed. At least during the regular season, when you consider it as a whole and no matter how it might have look at various points, the average margin of victory / loss was only about 0.43 points. The consumate statistic of a .500 team perhaps, but buried in there are plenty of games where, to a large extent, Michigan was right in it (standard deviation of 13 points, so a majority of the games were won / lost by 13 or less). Even the numbers read like a team that is in a position to now do something - how do I say this - nice potentially.

it's a great article, thanks for posting. But when they say "It could have been whenMitch McGary and Nik Stauskas announced that they were leaving for the NBA," how can they omit GRIII? There were 3 early departures, and it helps their argument

The signs of a damn good coach.  Always bugs me how much praise all the "top" coaches get when they're "coaching" the best players.  It's easy to win when you have the best players in the country.  Let's see how these guys do when they don't have a team full of 5-star players or guys who don't care.  That's right, they lose to Robert Morris in the NIT...

doesn't get nearly enough credit nationally for the work he does. True this season may look "lost" at the end but some of these are guys could be playing at the CCRB instead of Crisler if not for Coach B's talent spotting ability and development.

Given the growth we've seen thus far, especially in guys like Irvin and Dawkins, I have to imagine that 2016 will be an embarrassment of riches on the court.
